Played by the late great Christopher Reeve, the film details the demise of alien planet Krypton as Jor-El, Oscar winner Marlon Brando sends his child off to planet Earth. Kal-El (Reeve) grows up to become mild mannered reporter Clark Kent of the Daily Planet, who must balance his time between wooing his colleague Lois Lane (Margot Kidder), and saving the world from the plans of corrupt tycoon Lex Luthor, (Gene Hackman). Christopher Reeve: Remembering The Iconic Man of Steel
  |

Christopher Reeve, the larger-than-life actor who remains the best known and celebrated incarnation of the cinematic versions of Superman, died ten years ago today of cardiac arrest. Reeve had been suffering from complications of a horseriding accident in 1995 which had left him a quadriplegic.

For Reeve and the memory of him — which shines vividly in the annals of Hollywood and the sci-fi/fantasy realm via his legions of loyal fans — his big-screen portrayal of the Man of Steel from 1978-1987, in which the first film is considered a sort of zenith in the genre and was one of the first popcorn comic book blockbuster films of the cinematic contemporary age, is still the benchmark of the film portrayal of the storied D.C. comic book hero. Approaching with a puckish, almost shy quality, Reeve’s Superman was everyman and no man. He knew exactly which buttons to push in order to make the character work in whatever scene he was in, and he played Superman with a humanistic vulnerability which only strengthened the obviousness of the muscle-bound fearless power ball he was against adversaries. ‘

Superman Vs. Hulk: The Fight Part 3 (Video)
  |

Back in November, I presented a couple of videos (be sure to watch these first if you haven’t seen them) that offered a fairly convincing CGI look into the age old question: who would win in a fight, Superman or The Incredible Hulk? Well, the creator of those short clips, Michael Habjan, has recently released a third installment of the battle between the two powerhouses; and let me tell you, this new clip looks unbelievable.

Habjan impressed me with the first two videos in his realistic, graphic battle to end all battles, but this one beats its predecessors senseless. The action is superb and Superman’s likeness to the late Christopher Reeve is uncanny. I sure hope part four isn’t too far away.

Check out the video below and sound off on who you expect to come out on top!
