Sylvester Stallone Now Says ‘The Expendables 2’ Will Be Rated R
  |  @   |

Back in January the hearts of action movie fans everywhere were broken at word that The Expendables 2 looked like it was going to be slapped with a PG-13 rating…and that it was due to the fact that Chuck Norris had gone soft and wouldn’t do the movie unless the “vulgar dialogue” was toned down so that younger moviegoers could see it. This, of course, angered the adult masses.

The news was hoped to be a misunderstanding at first, but when Sylvester Stallone confirmed it, fears became reality. Now Stallone is making everyone happy by retracting said previous confirmation and now claiming that the movie will in fact be given the medal of honor R-rating. And all is right in the world.

Chuck Norris Reveals ‘The Expendables 2’ Will Be Rated PG-13; Sylvester Stallone Confirms It
  |

Not many people know this but Sylvester Stallone‘s 2010 brawny mercenary epic The Expendables was originally shot with the intention of getting a PG-13 rating. Fans of old school action the world over were disheartened but were willing to look past it just as long as Sly delivered the goods, and given the insane amount of heavyweight ass-kicking talent the star/director had assembled for the movie, there was no question he wouldn’t. As the film approached its release date the decision was made to pump some more blood-soaked carnage digitally into the proceedings to get its rating up to an R, despite the nagging stigma that the box office appeal of R-rated action films was dropping off fast each year.

That didn’t prevent The Expendables from becoming one of the surprise hits of that summer, grossing over $100 million in the U.S. and banking a grand worldwide total of over $274 million (with a budget of only $80 million). At that point not only was a sequel inevitable but it was assumed from the beginning that the next Expendables adventure, appropriately titled The Expendables 2, would be from the very beginning designed and executed with the intention of getting that all-important R rating.

But then a funny thing happened to The Expendables 2 on its way to principal photography. A funny thing named Chuck Norris. Continue reading to see how Norris changed the entire course of the movie, and to see a video.

Watch Now: First Teaser Trailer for ‘The Expendables 2’
  |

The first teaser trailer for Lionsgate’s summer 2012 testosterone-fiesta The Expendables 2 has been released. You can watch the trailer and read the official plot synopsis here below.

The trailer is little more than Bruce Willis‘ menacing Mr. Church (the character he played in the single scene he shared with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original) confronting Stallone’s Barney Ross about a deal they made and how it’s time to pay up, followed by a roll call of the movie’s cast. Eleven actors, and not one neck between them.

‘Electric Boogaloo: The Wild Untold Story of Canon Films’ Documents 80s Action Studio
  |

For a certain age group of young boys in particular the Canon Group shaped their expectations of action films. In the late 70s through the mid 80s they created action heroes (Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme) and pushed the boundaries of what could be done with a tiny budget. I always said the first superhero film I ever saw was Revenge of the Ninja. In that film ninjas climbed walls like Spider-Man, they had mind control powers, and better gadgets than Batman. Other similar classics include Missing in Action, The Delta Force, the Death Wish sequels, and Kickboxer. The Canon Group also dabbled in virtually every other genre of film too, including musical (Breakin’ and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo) and art house films.

’80s Action Stars Assemble! First Poster For ‘The Expendables 2’ Released
  |  @   |

The first poster for The Expendables 2 (or EX2, as it’s dubbed here) has arrived, and it’s a surreal thing to lay eyes on.

Explosions and gunfire act only as a border to the multi-headed beast that is this movie’s cast. The poster features a veritable who’s who of 1980s action movie stars including Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Jean-Clause Van Damme, and Dolph Lundgren. They’re joined by returning stars Jason Statham and Terry Crewes, as well as who I’m assuming is either Nan Yu or Amanda Ooms, who must be an important character as she beat out other stars Jet Li, Randy Couture, and Liam Hemsworth for a spot on the one-sheet.

Head on over to the other side now to check out the poster for The Expendables 2 now!
