2010-03-01_chuck_newAfter a two-week hiatus due to Winter Olympics coverage, NBC’s Chuck returned tonight for the second half of season three, which shows no signs of slowing down.

While the preview (embedded below) shows Chuck (Zachary Levi) possibly getting busy with fellow Nerd Hearder Hannah (Kristin Kreuk), Casey (Adam Baldwin) losing a tooth, a tiger, and tons of kung fu action, stars Zachary Levi and Josh Gomez were gracious enough to sit down for a press conference call to discuss even more about what to expect in the episodes ahead.

Levi will pull double duty as both actor and director for “Chuck vs the Beard” airing March 8, which sees Chuck being taken off active duty after having problems trying to use the Intersect. The episode is said to have the entire cast involved and could have major repercussion on future story lines.

“I had reservations about it until it was signed off by the powers that be,” Levi said. “I can’t believe they let me do this episode.”

‘Chuck’ Premiere Brings 7.7 Million Viewers

2010-01-11-chuck_sarahThe 2-hour Chuck Season 3 premiere last night did astoundingly well for NBC — bringing in preliminary numbers of 7.7 million viewers, according to reports confirmed by show creator Josh Schwartz.

These numbers don’t actually include TiVo viewers since (if I’m not mistaken) those are delayed about a week. And of course the numbers on Hulu are notable, but I’m not sure how they factor into the prime time decision making. The point is, Chuck put eyeballs on the screen that the show hasn’t done since the first season.

“Thank you for all you have done to help get us to this moment. This season is for you!” said Schwartz on his Twitter feed moments before the episode hit the air.

From what I can tell, everyone involved seems willing to go the distance to make this show stick around. First, it was stars Zachary Levi and Adam Baldwin making sandwiches for hardcore fans. This push apparently worked as Subway agreed to some nontraditional advertising that got the show a third season. [Read: NBC’s Chuck Saved By Sandwiches, Not Fans] Then, just months ago NBC announced it was ordering an additional six episodes — bringing the total to 19.

Reminder: ‘Chuck’ Season 3 Premieres Tonight

2010-01-10-key_art_chuckAs a reminder to all fans, the third season of Chuck premieres tonight on NBC at 8/9 EST with two (that’s right TWO) hours of Bartowski-Kung-Fu-filled fun.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Charles Bartowski and crew. At the end of season 2, Chuck’s long lost father (Scott Bakula) reemerged revealing that he had created ‘the Intersect,’ the technology that gave his son the entire database of top secret spy knowledge. Chuck (Zachary Levi) then re-downloaded an upgraded version of ‘the Intersect’ into his mind. Oh also, Morgan announced he was moving to Hawaii, Ellie and Captain Awesome tied the knot, and everyone’s love for Subway sandwiches was hinted to be getting much, much stronger.

If you can’t catch the premiere, remember to set those TiVos for the TWO hour opening episode, or catch it tomorrow on Hulu.

Check out a preview via NBC after the jump…

Fox To Make New Western With Science Fiction Twist & No, It’s Not ‘Firefly’

Firefly

Just when you thought that Fox couldn’t enrage you any more than they already have, it has now been announced that Chuck producer Scott Rosenbaum is developing a new show for the television studio that will supposedly be an “epic Western with a sci-fi twist” about a gunslinger who is caught between two worlds. Rosenbaum will be producing the show with Warner Brothers TV and Terminator Salvation director McG‘s Wonderland Sound and Vision studio. No title or further details are known as of this moment.

The big catch in all of this, is that it sounds an awful lot like the basic premise for another former Fox title that just so happens to have a massive cult following of fans dying for its revival: Joss Whedon’s Firefly. Granted, the whole “stuck between worlds” bit sounds like it won’t be identical to Firefly, but it is still enough to scratch your head, and for some, maybe even become more angry.

SDCC 09: Jeffster Rocks the Party at ‘Chuck’ Panel

The crowd in Ballroom 20 was given a great show first thing Saturday morning at San Diego Comic-Con this year, thanks to the rock stylings of the band Jeffster. Fans of NBC’s Chuck will know what Jeffster is, but for the uninitiated, Jeffster is a band made up of Jeff (Scott Krinsky) and Lester (Vik Sahay), two of the title character’s co-workers. They’ve shown up a couple of times in Season 2 of the show, and they usually play 80’s rock classics. Saturday, they went a little further back and played Queen’s 1978 classic “Fat Bottom Girls.” To say that the fans in the crowd ate it up is an understatement. Everyone in the crowd was on their feet, and I think they made a few new fans in the crowd who were waiting for other panels.

As for the rest of the panel, the whole cast was there to talk about the show, but mostly they were there to thank the fans for the efforts they made to bring the show back for a third season.

It was revealed that the new season may premier earlier than had been previously announced, but no actual date was given.
