Zack Snyder’s Superman Reboot ‘Man Of Steel’ Gets An Official Synopsis

Comic Book Movie has the rundown on an upcoming casting call for Zack Snyder‘s upcoming reboot of the Superman franchise, titled Man of Steel, which also comes with the first official synopsis for the movie.

The open casting call will be held in Nanaimo and Ucluelet on Vancouver Island when shooting moves from Chicago to British Columbia on September 21, 2011. If interested, you can find more details by heading to the link at the bottom of this post.

The movie stars Henry Cavill in the lead, with a supporting cast that includes Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Laurence Fishburne, Julia Ormond, and Russell Crowe.

Russell Crowe Set To Play Superman’s Father In ‘Man Of Steel’

The cast for Warner Brothers’ reboot of the Superman franchise, titled Man of Steel, has been impressive so far, bringing in a collection of interesting names for the many iconic roles available. But they’re not done yet.

According to Variety, the movie””which is being “godfathered” by The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder“”has chosen Russell Crowe to play the role of Jor-El, the father of Superman once played by the late, great Marlon Brando in the 1978 film starring Christopher Reeve as the superhero.

Amy Adams To Play Lois Lane Alongside Henry Cavill In Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman’

The cast for Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, and the recently released Sucker Punch director Zack Snyder‘s reboot of Superman for Warner Brothers has been coming together quite nicely.

The movie, which is said to be called The Man of Steel, first cast Tudors star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, and has since brought in Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent. Now Clark has his Lois Lane with the announcement that Academy Award nominee Amy Adams has been cast in the role.

Diane Lane Set To Play Henry Cavill’s Mother In Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman’

Another actor has been added to the cast of 300 and Watchmen director Zack Snyder‘s upcoming comic book movie, currently known simply as Superman.

In a press release sent out Wednesday, it was announced that Diane Lane, who received an Academy Award nomination for her work in Unfaithful and has starred in movies like The Perfect Storm and Untraceable, had been cast in the movie.

Lane will be playing the role of Martha Kent, who acts as mother to the young boy who eventually becomes Clark Kent and of course, the Man of Steel himself, Superman.

Superman: Earth One is an exciting, modern revamp of a character that most everyone reading this has been familiar with as long as memory serves us. In a lot of fans’ opinions, Superman doesn’t need changing, but in the eyes of the majority, he needed an upgrade, and Earth One is a brilliant example of how to take the character in a new, relevant direction.

As reported, this is an origin story of Superman taking place in a modern setting. An alien boy is found in a small country town in Kansas named Smallville. When he’s older, Clark Kent goes from Smallville to the big city of Metropolis with a gift. His parents encourage the young man to stand up for what is morally right, but he is uncertain of himself. Clark is searching for jobs and positions to help his widowed mother, and he stumbles upon a local newspaper named The Daily Planet. A villainous force comes to Metropolis to find Clark, and he finds the will to protect the Earth. This is your typical origin story for Superman. The main difference? Superman is not a boyscout, and I believe it’s for the better.
