Comcast’s Bid To Acquire Fox Officially Higher Than Disney’s
  |  @   |

Last year, The Walt Disney Company announced that they had reached a deal to buy the 21st Century Fox‘s entertainment assets. Fox was to keep their news and sports properties while Disney acquired their movie and television assets. It was a big move for the studio who already has Pixar, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm. It also, of course, finally brought the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties back home to Marvel.

But as that initially appeared to be a done deal, Comcast, the company who owns Universal Pictures, made their own interest in making a bid to acquire Fox known. Now Comcast has made an offer to acquire Fox’s entertainment assets for $65 billion, which is significantly higher than Disney’s $52 billion deal. More on the story below.

Comcast Is Preparing An All-Cash Bid For Fox’s Entertainment Assets

It’s been almost six months since Disney made the historic move to acquire nearly all of Fox‘s entertainment assets for the price of $52 billion dollars. However, a lot has changed since then. And it looks like there are other parties who are interested in claiming a piece of the Fox pie.

Earlier this year, Comcast expressed interest in acquiring Fox. The company, which also owns Universal, originally made a higher bid than the Mouse House. Their stake was priced at $60 billion. But the deal was rejected with Fox citing anti-trust issues. Now it looks like Comcast is making another move for Fox. This time offering all cash as opposed to Disney’s stock options. Last year, Disney made a monumental move when they acquired FOX for a mere $52 billion. The mouse would be taking all of FOX’s film and TV assets, leaving the studio only with its sports and news. In fact, FOX has already been making the necessary moves to fill some of the void that will be left when the acquisition goes through by making a deal with the NFL to be the host network for Thursday Night Football.

However, it looks like the deal that was supposed to bring in Marvel and the original X-Men trilogy into the Disney fold may not be happening. This according to new reports that say Comcast is still interested in acquiring FOX. More on the story below.
