Starz has announced that they are developing an action-drama series based on the Black Samurai novels by author Marc Olden, with Common attached to star.
The series is currently untitled, going under the obvious working title Black Samurai. Olden’s work has been adapted in the past, in the 1977 blaxploitation film of the same name starring the late Jim Kelly. Starz is developing the series with Jerry Bruckheimer and his Jerry Bruckheimer Television.

“Somebody please get this man a gun!”
With 2014’s John Wick, co-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch delivered a stylish neo-noir action thriller with hyper-kinetic fight choreography and sophisticated “gun fu” a-la John Woo’s The Killer. In the follow-up, John Wick: Chapter 2, Stahelski and returning screenwriter Derek Kolstad attempt to delve deeper into Wick’s internal struggle and expand the franchise’s mythology.
After unleashing hell on the Russian mobsters who killed his dog, retired hitman John Wick (Keanu Reeves)’s plans to resume a quiet civilian life are cut short when Italian gangster Santino D’Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) shows up on his doorstep with a gold “marker” compelling him to repay past favors.
Lionsgate has released online the 30-second TV spot for their upcoming film John Wick: Chapter 2 that aired during today’s Super Bowl pre-game show. The sequel to the 2014 action film sees the return of star Keanu Reeves as the title hitman.
Of course, he’s back. Having a one and done film for John Wick (Keanu Reeves) didn’t seem appropriate for the man, the myth, and the legend. So the successful film about the former assassin who came out of retirement after the son of a crime boss killed his beloved dog (which was also a gift from his dying wife) is getting a well-deserved sequel, and it looks like it will live up to expectations.
Lionsgate has released the second trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2, and the action can only go up from here. Especially since there is a mark on him.
