It seems that Dark Phoenix, the final installment of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men film franchise was destined to fail right from the get go. Of course, the first film helped usher in a wave of adaptations which would eventually lead up to the highly successful Marvel Cinematic Universe, and to a certain extent the DC Extended Universe. However, after debuting with a weak $33 million, it is starting to look like X-Men is more X-Meh.
And like most big budget films that don’t to live up to expectations, there is always some sort of behind the scenes troubles that may have contributed to failures. That is no different with Dark Phoenix. More on the report below.
Since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, the Mouse House’s theatrical release schedule has been significantly updated. Now the studio will be responsible for the release of all of the upcoming Fox films like Dark Phoenix, Stuber, Spies in Disguise, and much more. While some of the bigger films will stick with their current dates, others like The New Mutants will be doing some shifting to later ones.
Additionally, Disney has announced release dates for untitled Marvel Studio films, the future of Star Wars after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the Avatar sequels. You can find all of the dates below.

The movie is written and directed by Simon Kinberg, and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.
You can find the final trailer and a synopsis for Dark Phoenix below.
Dark Phoenix may be the final X-Men film under the 20th Century Fox banner before it goes over to Disney. If that is the case, then they will be going out on their own terms. And it looks like director Simon Kinberg could end the franchise with a story arc that we have already seen before: “The Dark Phoenix Saga.”
In it, Jean Grey becomes possessed by a cosmic entity and kills nearly all of life in the process. With the X-Men trying to regain control of their friend, there are outside forces that seek to manipulate her. And now we are seeing more of that, and how the new villain (Jessica Chastain) will stop at nothing to use Jean’s (Sophie Turner) new powers for her own nefarious goals. Fox has released a new trailer for Dark Phoenix, and you can check it out below.
