Originally Released: November 11, 2011

Since I was 23, the time stamp of “4:44” keeps coming up and recurring in my life. I have no idea whether this has any relevance or not, but it’s something I’ve noticed frequently, and as a result I often get attracted to stories surrounding the concept of meanings behind significant numerological synchronicities. 11-11-11: The Prophecy is one such film, and surveys this concept in greater detail than many other stories have.

Written and directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, best known for his contributions to the Saw series, 11-11-11 (not to be confused with the ‘mockbuster’ with the rip-off name of 11/11/11 — the movie with the correct title uses dashes instead of slashes) explores in elaborate depth the nature of synchronicity, numerology, and its relation to imagery and prophecy. The concept lends itself very strongly to the horror genre, and comes across brilliantly.

Capacity Pictures/Big Air
DVD Release Date: April 24, 2012

Written and directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, Repo! The Genetic Opera), 11-11-11: The Prophecy is a supernatural horror film that feels more like a date-based gimmick than an actual storyline.

At 11:11PM on the 11th day of the 11th month, an entity from another world will enter the earthly realm through Heaven’s 11th gate.

Got all that? OK, so let’s focus on the ‘plot’ of the film that attempts to fill in all the gaps between the the ominous synchronicity of 11-11-11. After the death of his wife and child, Joseph Crone (Timothy Gibbs) travels to Barcelona to visit his estranged brother (Michael Landes) and dying father.

Spoiler Talk: 11-11-11
  |

Pseudo-religious twaddle and apocalyptic bombast are both the baloney and the cheese in the latest mediocrity sandwich from director Darren Lynn Bousman, 11-11-11. The ads trumpet Bousman as the director of Saw 2, 3, and 4, though we’re not sure why anyone would admit directing Saw 4. You can be sure that 11-11-11 will disappear from theaters faster than it takes to change the date to 11-12, and since Bousman also wrote this yawner disguised as a horror film, he has only himself to blame.

Then again, what else can you expect from a movie based on a date?

Throughout the movie’s (thankfully) scant 80-minute running time, I was reminded of that horribly laughable Nic Cage Wicker Man remake and that just plain horrible Winona Ryder snoozer Lost Souls. 11-11-11 is neither better nor worse than those two, just equally bad.

‘Saw’ Director Darren Lynn Bousman To Direct ‘Abattoir’
  |  @   |

Darren Lynn Bousman, who is best known for directing Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, and Repo! The Genetic Opera, is now officially set to direct Abattoir. The movie will be based on a Radical Publishing comic miniseries by Bousman and his writing/producing partner Michael Peterson.

Considering the miniseries isn’t out yet, not too much is known of the premise aside fore the synopsis below and what Bousman has to say about it — both included below. What we do know, is that it will be some kind of a haunted house story, and those are always fun. That paired with the sick and twisted brain of Darren Lynn Bousman means that this could be one to watch for by both comic book and movie horror fans alike.

Here’s what Bousman had to say about the project:

I am addicted to haunted house stories. I love them… My addiction to this genre became an obsession to create one of my own. Abattoir is my spin on a haunted house story.
