Is Tommy Doyle Returning To The ‘Halloween’ Franchise? Rumor Is That Paul Rudd Was Approached For Role

While the holiday is celebrated in mid Fall, the summer has been hot with Halloween movie news. We learned earlier this month that “The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode will continue” with two sequels to David Gordon Green’s hugely successful 2018 Halloween. Halloween Kills is set to hit theaters in 2020 and be followed by 2021’s Halloween Ends. Jamie Lee Curtis is set to return as Laurie Strode in both films. Now rumors are circulating that another character from John Carpenter’s original 1978 classic could be returning to the series: Tommy Doyle.

Universal Announces Release Dates For Next 2 ‘Halloween’ Films Starring Jamie Lee Curtis

Studios don’t need to be in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con to make big news. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple announcement. Take Universal Pictures, for example. They announced today the titles and release dates for the two follow-ups to last year’s Halloween, the semi-reboot/sequel to the 1978 iconic slasher film of the same name.

Horror master John Carpenter posted to Twitter, “The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode isn’t over” along with the announcement video, which you can watch here below.

‘Halloween’ Digital, 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD Release Dates Revealed

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has revealed the release dates for the latest entry in the Halloween franchise on digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.

The movie, which is a direct sequel to John Carpenter‘s original and saw original star Jamie Lee Curtis returning to play Laurie Strode once again, was made on a $10 million budget and brought back nearly $253 million worldwide. It also stars Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Virginia Gardner, and is directed by David Gordon Green who co-wrote the screenplay with Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley.

They did it! They made Michael Myers scary again! In 1978, John Carpenter created Michael Myers, a boogeyman who killed babysitters before disappearing into the night after taking 6 bullets fired by his doctor. The franchise has since given us nine sequels, a reboot, and four convoluted timelines. All the mythos and fear from one of the faces on the Mount Rushmore of horror were essentially gone. And then came the guys from Pineapple Express! David Gordon Green and Danny McBride led the charge and with Jason Blum of Blumhouse on board producing, they crafted a Halloween film that pays loving homage to the original, winks at all the fans, and creates a new and worthy sequel that is, again above everything else, scary.
