For a while it looked like a movie adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s comic book series The Sandmanfrom Joseph Gordon-Levitt was going to happen. Eventually Warner Bros. moved the project over to New Line, and within a year of that happening Levitt ended up departing the project and the movie ultimately never happened.
Usually when it comes to long comic book or book series, fans would much prefer a TV series adaptation over movies. Especially these days. And that’s exactly the road that Sandman is now traveling on, as Netflix has announced that a series adaptation of Gaiman’s work is on the way to the streaming service.
