This past week has seen huge developments for the DC Cinematic Universe. We learned that Patty Jenkins will direct Wonder Woman and also that Zack Snyder would be releasing the first footage of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on Thursday, with the trailer hitting the web on Monday, with 15 minutes of footage from the film at IMAX locations on the same night. It was originally reported that we would be seeing a small tease of the teaser during Star Wars Celebration, but if you are a fan of these DC films, Christmas has come early because Snyder has just revealed that early footage online tonight.
On the heels of the news that Patty Jenkins is replacing Michelle MacLaren to direct DC/Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman, comes word that Marvel could be making an offer to Angelina Jolie to direct Captain Marvel. Before Jenkins signed on, Warner Bros was considering having Jolie direct Wonder Woman. But now that the film has found a director, Marvel will be able to make an offer to Jolie in hopes that she would direct Captain Marvel. Hit the jump for more.
Just when it started to look like Warner Bros.’ DC Cinematic Universe was starting to come together, it loses one of its directors. Last week, we reported on rumors that The LEGO Movie directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord may directThe Flash, while the studio was considering making an offer to James Wan (Furious 7) to directAquaman. Green Lantern and Shazam were some of the other films that would need to find directors as well. But one film we haven’t heard from was Wonder Woman.
Since last November, the only major development revealed was that Pan writer Jason Fuchs was writing the script. Now, it appears that the WB will have to search for a new director, as Michelle MacLaren is stepping down citing “creative difference” as her reason for leaving the high-profile project.
Zack Snyder posted an image to his Twitter account on Thursday night of Jason Momoa as Aquaman in what looks like a tease for the Justice League films.
The image appears to be concept art showing a photo of Momoa in Aquaman armor holding a trident, with the words “Unite The Seven” written over the image. With the picture, Snyder wrote, “There is only one true King. #unitetheseven”. Check out the image and Twitter post here below.
