Reboots Of ‘Home Alone,’ ‘Night At The Museum,’ More Coming To Disney+

During a call to talk about third quarter earnings for The Walt Disney Company, chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed some projects that were being planned for their upcoming streaming service Disney+ which come from the company’s acquisition of Fox’s entertainment assets.

We already knew that we’d be seeing things like Avatar and X-Men, but Disney has confirmed that some reboots for popular franchises including Home Alone, Night at the Museum, Cheaper by the Dozen, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid are on the way to the streaming service.

Book Con 2017 Panel: ‘Diary Of A Wimpy Kid’ Author Jeff Kinney

This past weekend, the Javits Center in New York City hosted Book Con 2017. The event filled the same building and rooms and followed a similar structure to the more sprawling NYC Comic Con, which invades in October. Book Con came on the heels of Book Expo, a 3 day event that featured guest appearances by Hillary Clinton, Stephen King, astronaut Scott Kelly and others. Book Con featured countless authors, exhibitors, and publishers as well as guests such as Kevin Hart, Jeffrey Tambor and Bill Nye the Science Guy. One person I was extremely excited about was Jeff Kinney. See, I have a 13-year old son, and he has been obsessed with the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books for years. We have all 11 titles in the series including the extra “movie journals,” and we own the movies on DVD. So when I saw the Kinney was having a panel discussion about his upcoming 12th DoaWK book, The Getaway, I was there.

NYCC 2014: Jeff Kinney Presents Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Book 9, The Long Haul

Jeff Kinney, author of the wildly popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, spoke to children and adults alike at the Jeff Kinney Presents Diary of a Wimpy Kid and a Preview of Book 9, The Long Haul panel at New York Comic-Con Sunday evening. The books had sold 150 million copies worldwide. The Long Haul will be released on November 4, 2014.
