Some people are content simply purchasing whatever is available for who or what they want to be for Halloween. More crafty folks, such as cosplayers, might prefer taking the long road and building their costumes and props from scratch.

YouTube series DIY Prop Shop has been doing some great videos recently, perfect for this time of year. They offer tutorials on how to build replicas of Negan’s bat Lucille from The Walking Dead, Ash’s chainsaw hand from the Evil Dead movies and TV show, and an ADAM syringe from BioShock.

How To Make Your Own ‘Fallout’ Pip-Boy and Elder Scroll Replicas (Videos)

The do it yourself prop crafting tutorial YouTube series DIY Prop Shop is always a fun place to find low-budget ideas for creating replicas of your favorite geeky goodies such as the flux capacitor and hoverboard from Back to the Future, the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis from Evil Dead, and Captain Mal’s gun from Firefly, just to name a few.

But if you’re a fan of the games of Bethesda Game Studios, their recent videos will be of great interest to you. Not only have they released a video showing how you can make your very own Elder Scroll from the Elders Scrolls series, but also a video on how to make an impressive Pip-Boy replica from the Fallout universe. Fair warning: these are by no means easy things to pull off, but if you have the time, patience, and some crafting skills, they’re definitely doable!

DIY: How To Make Captain Mal’s ‘Firefly’ Gun (Video)

The DIY Prop Shop is back with a new video that fans of Joss Whedon‘s still inexplicably dead space western Firefly will be interested in seeing.

The YouTube series’ latest video will show you how to make your very own prop replica of the recognizable handgun that Captain Malcolm Reynolds (played by Nathan Fillion) wields on the show. It will take a bit of work if you want to pull it off, but it’s a good option if you don’t have the money purchase an actual replica.

Make Your Own ‘Evil Dead’ Necronomicon This Halloween (Video)

With Halloween later this week, which also brings with it the arrival of Ash vs. Evil Dead on Starz, it’s the perfect time to make yourself a cool prop. Thankfully the YouTube series DIY Prop Shop has you covered, offering tips on how you can make your very own “Book of the Dead,” the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis seen in the Evil Dead movies.

The prop seems fairly easy to make, especially if you’ve got some arts and crafts and/or cosplaying skills, and should only cost you around $18 to $33 give or take depending on the materials you’re able to get for it.
