Kid Athletes: True Tales Of Childhood From Sports Legends Hardcover | Kindle Edition
Written by David Stabler
Illustrated by Doogie Horner Quirk Books
Release Date: November 17th, 2015
Did you know that Danica Patrick started her racing career in a go-kart? Or that Peyton Manning was a master tango dancer? George “Babe” Ruth got into so much trouble, his parents gave him away. Did you know he grew up in reform school? No? Well these legends were once kids, just like all of us. Some were poor, some were picked on, some were too small or too tall, and some were not believed in. But all overcame their circumstances to become legends, and have quirky little stories of when they were young.
Author David Stabler and illustrator Doogie Horner bring you Kid Athletes: True Tales Of Childhood From Sports Legends, the follow-up to their Kid Presidents.
Some Very Interesting Cats Perhaps You Weren’t Aware Of Hardcover | Kindle
By Doogie Horner Workman Publishing
Release date: October 20, 2015
In this age of the Internet, cats rule. They’re everywhere. They make us squeal with delight, coo at their adorableness, and laugh at all their video hijinks. That’s why a novelty book like Some Very Interesting Cats Perhaps You Weren’t Aware Of fits in very well with today’s audiences.
This new full-color small hardcover book comes from author and illustrator Doogie Horner, whose insanely adorable 100 Ghosts: A Gallery of Harmless Haunts made our 2013 All Hallows Read recommendations. In Some Very Interesting Cats Horner gives us a look at just that — a tiny glimpse at the secret lives of 100 or so very interesting cats (one of nine lives per cat, that is). But unlike famous felines Morris the finicky spokesperson, Socks the Presidential pet, or current internet sensations Grumpy Cat and Lil Bub, the furballs featured in this illustrated collection are very little known. For example, there’s David, the Werecat, who was bitten upon the Scottish moors; the “Declawed” Boots Tidyman — you thought he was defenseless, think again!; and my favorite, Snickers, the Hideous Stray, who comes to your door not for a saucerful of milk, but rather for your souls (he’s swallow your soul!!!).
For 100 Ghosts: A Gallery of Harmless Haunts, author, illustrator, and comedian Doogie Horner created a collection of 100 line drawings of the iconic White Sheet Ghost rendered in various ways from something simply mundane like an after-bath look and eating spaghetti, or as familiar characters like Star Wars droid R2-D2, The Muppets, and the famous boy wizard Harry Potter.
The little 208-page hardcover book, which was released by Quirk Books last month, is available now in Hardcover and for the Kindle, and you can check out a 4-page preview of the book’s interior art here below.
