Duncan Jones’ ‘Mute’ To Start Filming Next Week
  |  @   |

Long before Duncan Jones got the gig to direct the blockbuster adaptation of Warcraft, he was a small indie director with only a few features under his belt. In fact, Moon wasn’t even supposed to mark his debut as a director, that moment was reserved for his passion project, Mute.

Now that his obligations to Warcraft are behind him, the filmmaker can start focusing once again on bringing Mute to the big screen, and has announced that production on the film will commence next week. More on the story below.

Critics have been rather harsh to Warcraft so far, and as the lights dimmed and the movie started, I came into the theater thinking that I was only there to throw a little love on director Duncan Jones. It’s not easy being a movie adaptation based on a very popular video game, especially one that has a huge fanbase like “World of Warcraft.” The long-running MMORPG has been a part of the gaming culture for the better part of 20 years, and with that kind of history, there is bound to be a number of stories to work with at anyone’s disposal. So with Warcraft, it was up to Duncan Jones (Moon) to go straight back to the beginning where it all started, and give us a film that both players and non-gamers can appreciate, by tapping into the source material and using the mythology of the fantasy genre.

However, the film does not deliver. In fact, it falls very short of saving the kingdom and lets the castle fall into the enemy known as boredom. Check out my full review below.
