‘X-Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ Crossover Movie Could Be Coming In 2018

In March 2014, 20th Century Fox carved out release dates for several of their upcoming movies, including a July 13, 2018 slot for an untitled feature based one of their valuable Marvel Comics properties. Since the studio thought nothing of revealing their release plans for X-Men: Apocalypse, the third and final Wolverine solo movie starring Hugh Jackman (which is rumored to be an adaptation of the “Old Man Logan” miniseries), and the sequel to August’s Fantastic Four reboot, people started to wonder if this mysterious Marvel flick was the long-gestating X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover event that was first hinted at almost two years ago.

If rumors to be believed, Fox’s attempt to create their own Avengers-style silver screen Bacchanalia of superhero excitement could be happening in 2018 after all.

Director Josh Trank Off ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Film, “Erratic Behavior” On ‘Fantastic Four’ Cited

Josh Trank (Chronicle) has been let go from his duties as director of one of the two Star Wars standalone films, with the filmmaker stating that he made the decision to leave the highly profile project.

Rumors of problems with Trank actually started during the final day of Star Wars Celebration last month, when he was a no-show during a panel with Gareth Edwards (Star Wars: Rogue One) and LucasFilms President Kathleen Kennedy about the spinoff Anthology films. The director, who was slotted to do the second spinoff film, cited illness as the reason he couldn’t appear at the panel. Oddly enough, Fox dropped their newest Fantastic Four trailer on that same day, which also happened to be a Sunday of all days, leading many to believe there were conflicts between the two parties.
