Rumor: Fox Considering X-Men Crossover With Marvel
  |  @   |

It took one disappointing franchise and a few leaked e-mails to find out that Sony was considering sharing Spider-Man with Marvel Studios. Though the character would remain with Sony, the eventual deal meant that the Webslinger could play in the Marvel sandbox, with a few caveats of course. But in the grand scheme of things, this would end up helping both parties as Spider-Man’s intro to the MCU turned out to be one of the best things about Captain America: Civil War, and now fans are eagerly looking forward to his next Sony movie, which will be produced by Marvel’s Kevin Feige.

So now as Marvel is entering Phase Three of their cinematic universe, Fox is looking towards the future for two of their own Marvel properties. However, both have produced rather disappointing results. Last year, Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four turned out to be one of the worst films of 2015, and despite Deadpool being a hit, X-Men: Apocalypse was a critical and commercial disappointment. So just as Sony hoped to turn things around with Spider-Man, there is a new rumor that says Fox may be considering the same thing with their Marvel properties, namely, X-Men. Check out the full details on the rumor below.

Check Out These Hilarious Homemade Spoof Trailers For 2015’s Biggest Movies
  |

Regardless of how movie marketing campaigns evolve to keep up with the changing times, trailers will always be one of the most crucial tools in the selling of a new film. A typical trailer for a major studio’s potential blockbuster and franchise hopeful tends to look the same as another of its type, from the editing beats to the choice of overdramatic music cues (not to mention that annoying and loud horn sound that can be traced back to Inception‘s brilliantly executed previews).

Naturally this opens the door for aspiring filmmakers and people with both a strong sense and access to pretty decent cameras and recording equipment to create their own improvised spoofs of those occasionally overbearing trailers. Putting their friends and relatives in front of the camera and using whatever materials available to them to recreate the multi-million dollar visual effects, the makers of these “sweded” trailers often end up with something far more entertaining than their inspirations.

I have taken it upon myself to scour YouTube for the funniest, most bizarre, and flat-out fun spoof trailers for the biggest blockbusters (and in one special case, a gigantic bomb), and as a special bonus I’ve included a few for some of 2016’s most anticipated movies. Enjoy, and have a happy new year!

Fox Pulls ‘Fantastic Four’ Sequel Off Its Release Schedule
  |  @   |

Don’t expect to see a sequel to Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four any time soon. The reboot was hit hard with reports of production problems ranging from disputes on the set, creative differences, destructive dogs, and controlling what could be said during the film’s press day. While Fox said they were focused on getting a sequel released with the potential to have a crossover with the X-Men film universe, the disastrous reviews from critic and fans alike showed that there was basically zero interest in seeing Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan continue on being Marvel’s first family – though it wasn’t really their fault.

Now there is a new report that says Fox has pulled the Fantastic Four sequel off its scheduled release. More on the story below.

Rumor: Marvel Studios Secures Rights To ‘Fantastic Four’ From Fox
  |  @   |

This past summer, Fox attempted to revive Fantastic Four with a bold new vision. Starring a young diverse cast consisting of Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan, the film would be directed by Josh Trank, but a number of behind-the-scenes problems revealed that it was a troubled shoot. It wasn’t so much of “creative differences” that fueled the conflict, but the shocking allegations of “combative and abusive behavior” by the director, along with Trank reportedly trying to control what the cast could say during the film’s press day, not to mention that he had no faith in the film whatsoever.

In the end, the Fantastic Four reboot tanked at the box office and was widely panned by both critics and audiences, in such a way that it gave hope to the idea that the rights to Marvel’s first family may revert back to Marvel Studios. And that seems to be the case, as a hot rumor says Marvel has struck a deal with Fox to get the rights back to Fantastic Four. More on the story here below.
