The last time we had a brush with death was in 2010’s The Final Destination. As it turned out, that installment in the horror movie franchise was by far the worst of them all with horrible acting, nonsensical situations, soap opera-level acting, and just an all-around unlikable final product. And that’s coming from someone who very much enjoyed the previous installments in the series for what they are: gruesomely fun guilty pleasures.
It’s time to get out your favorite shorts and tropical shirts, the summer movie season is upon us once again.
As always, we at Geeks of Doom present our guide to some of the more anticipated titles on the way so that you can figure out the ones you want to mark off on your calender and the ones you want to skip altogether.
This year we’ll also be jumping back to an older format of ours as well, where we discuss the anticipation element and potential suckage factor of the movies that are coming out.
You can check out the entire list of summer movies by clicking on over to the other side now, and please share what you’re most looking forward to in the comments below!
Jen Abrams, Eve Conte, and Justin Vactor host this angst-ridden episode to talk about the trailers for Harry Potter and Let Me In; movie box office numbers, mini reviews of recent viewings, and a review of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, finished off with an insightful discussion of who’s better for Bella, Edward or Jacob? The sparks fly on the first episode of Flix of Doom!
Bloody-Disgusting has uncovered a bit of information regarding Warner Brothers Pictures fifth installment in the Final Destination franchise. And though we don’t know much about the movie itself, what we read here could just say a lot about what direction the horror flick is heading in.
We won’t waste your time — let’s get right to it. According to the source, Warner Bros. is currently leaning toward calling their new movie 5NAL DESTINATION. Yes, that’s actually what words are indicating could be the new title. Five-nal Destination. Seriously.
New Line Cinema has chosen Steven Quale to direct Final Destination 5, the latest chapter in their franchise about an unseen force that comes back to kill those who miraculously survive gruesome and tragic accidents.
Quale is a newcomer to directing, but he’s be in the filmmaking game for a long time and has worked under one of the true masters of spectacular productions: James Cameron. Quale started with Cameron in 1989 as a production assistant on The Abyss. Since then he’s worked with the director on special projects for Terminator 2: Judgment Day and True Lies, as a second unit director on both Titanic and Avatar, and as co-director on the IMAX special, Aliens of the Deep. He also worked on Avatar as a visual effects supervisor.
