Sure, it would’ve been interesting to see a Holiday book from either The Shadow or Doc Savage or Red Sonja or even Battlestar Galactica, but in my opinion, the Flash Gordon universe offered the most opportunity story-wise, and the creative teams didn’t disappoint.

|
|
Each and every week, I, “Where’s my “˜Atlantis Attacks’ movie?!?!” Henchman 21 and “Coming 2023!” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of October 15, 2014. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.
After a couple of insanely busy weeks, we’ve got a chance to take a bit of a breather this week and take a look at some smaller books out this week that you may be passing up, but that you shouldn’t. I use “smaller” figuratively, as some of the books on the list this week are quite thick, and I don’t know what to tell you, but I like big books and I cannot lie. You other brothers can’t deny. And even though some knuckleheads are trying to diss, these are the books on my GoD List!

Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: May 21, 2014

Flash Gordon #2 finds Flash, Dale, and Zarkoff really out of their element, and that’s saying something considering that they’re on a whole different planet in a whole different galaxy!!!
This is a very big turning point for me. This is the issue that writer Jeff Parker turns the corner and gets his own “books.” He’s such a great author that now he’s among the select few writers for me who, when referring to a comic book, I would call it a “Jeff Parker book.” The story here is great. Imagine a fish out of water story in a fish out of water series!!! Now THAT’S talent!
