The arrest of Wilson Fisk left a power vacuum in Hell’s Kitchen. As Irish gang members meet to try to fill it, they are interrupted, to put it mildly, by a military style assault leaving all but one dead. Turns out, someone is hunting down gangs and street scum in the neighborhood. Sgt. Mahoney (Royce Johnson) even jokes that some cops think this mysterious gunman is making their lives easier. He even has a nickname… The Punisher.

The Runaways is a film is based on lead singer Cherie Currie’s memoir, Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway and it does a pretty good job of showing us what life was like for a teenage Runaway.
If you don’t know by now, The Runaways are one of my favorite bands of all time, so you can imagine that I’m quite psyched for the upcoming movie based on the 1970s all-girl rock band.
The Runaways, directed by Floria Sigismondi, stars Twilight‘s Kristen Stewart as a teenage Joan Jett with Dakata Fanning playing the band’s lead singer Cherie Currie. A new clip from The Runaways has been released (watch it here below) which shows how the young Currie first met the totally badass Jett along with Runaways mastermind, manager Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon).
Also debuting exclusively today over at MTV is the teaser poster for the film, which will be released in theaters on March 19, 2010. The Runaways will actually play first at the Sundance Film Festival this Sunday.
If you’re not sure what the teaser poster means, it’s a nod to the band’s most popular tune “Cherry Bomb.”
This week, the news broke that The Runaways, a biopic about the 1970’s all-girl rock band that featured Joan Jett, had been acquired by Apparition Films ahead of its debut at next month’s Sundance Film Festival (Read: “˜The Runaways’ Movie Finds Distribution).
Now, Entertainment Tonight has aired a sneak peek clip of the film, which stars Twilight: New Moon‘s Kristen Stewart (as Jett) and Datoka Fanning (as singer Cherie Currie).
Watch the clip here below.
The Runaways, which will be released in theaters March 19, 2010, is directed by Floria Sigismondi and also stars Scout Taylor-Compton as lead guitarist Lita Ford, Alia Shawkat as Robin (a fictional bassist), and Michael Shannon as Kim Fowley.
