‘Apostle’ Trailer: Dan Stevens Infiltrates One Very Scary Cult

Gareth Evans may be known for the Indonesian actioner franchise The Raid, but the Welsh director is taking on a new kind of film. Apostle is a religious-based horror period piece starring Dan Stevens, as a man who is sent to an island to infiltrate a secret cult so that he can rescue his sister who is being held for ransom. As the search is perilous, we come to find out that this cult is not this shining beacon of hope it claims to be. In fact, there is something far more sinister. ‘The Raid’ Director Gareth Evans Close To Helming Deathstroke Film

When Ben Affleck teased that Joe Manganiello would be playing Deathstroke in The Batman, fans were elated. The most deadly assassin in DC comics would finally make a cinematic appearance. But as we all know, The Batman fell apart. The film then found new hope when War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves took over as director. However, this also meant that the film would be getting a whole new script. Which put Manganiello’s role as Deathstroke into question. The actor, himself, was even unsure if he would appear in the film.

Now there are reports that Gareth Evans (The Raid and The Raid 2) could direct a standalone film based on the assassin tentatively titled Deathstroke. However, there is still no word yet if Manganiello will play the role. More on the story below.

‘The Grey’s Joe Carnahan, Frank Grillo Set To Remake ‘The Raid’

The Grey director Joe Carnahan and star Frank Grillo are set to re-team for a new action project The Raid, a remake of the 2011 action hit The Raid: Redemption.

The pair made the announcement in a video shared on Instagram, as well as a post on Twitter in which Carnahan also confirmed that Gareth Evans, the director of the original, has given his blessing and will be a producer on the remake.

Watch Now: ‘The Raid’ Director Gareth Evans’ Short Samurai Film

Director Gareth Evans is best known for his action movie hit The Raid: Redemption and its sequel The Raid 2. He also co-directed the V/H/S 2 segment titled “Safe Haven” with Timo Tjahjanto.

Recently Evans uploaded a short film to YouTube that’s just another one of the little treats the internet gives us often. It’s a simple samurai tale, following a warrior attempting to deliver a peace treaty during a civil war when two assassins show up to stop her from accomplishing her objective, shot in black and white as a tip of the hat to the films of Akira Kurosawa such as Seven Samurai no doubt.

Mark Millar Wanted A Hit-Girl Movie With ‘The Raid’ Director Gareth Evans

Mark Millar, the comic book scribe who created the series the Kick-Ass movies were based on, revealed recently that he had discuss the possibility of a solo Hit-Girl movie with Welsh action filmmaker Gareth Evans (The Raid). Played by Chloë Grace Moretz in the 2010 original directed by Matthew Vaughn and its inferior 2013 sequel, Kick-Ass 2, Hit-Girl was by far the breakout character of the little superhero franchise that almost was.

The idea of making a spin-off with the foul-mouthed teenage vigilante was taken seriously by Millar and Evans briefly.
