Here’s what you missed last week on Vikings 3.2 “The Wanderer”: Spoiler alert! Come on! How scary (and handsome) was Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) when his longship parted the fog towards the bank, severed heads dangling, his evil grin shining in amusement? I would have gone running too! He reluctantly fought for the crown of Princess Crazy (Amy Bailey) with Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) skewering her uncle in the first episode of the season, “Mercenary”. They partied in between with Rollo (Clive Standen) freaking out. Those had to be some potent mushrooms or something. That doesn’t help poor Torstein’s arm though.

Vikings Athelstan

The newest webisode in the Vikings series, Athelstan’s Journals: Stones and Bones Chapter 2: Death, Athelstan (George Blagden) once again seeks out the Seer’s (John Kavanagh) words. Even though the predictions are gleaned from the gods that are not his own, he says, “You are a prophet of the gods,” to the Seer. This is the struggle he has had almost from the very beginning, questioning his own faith, as he lives and learns from this very different culture.

Check out the video below.

“How long will the gods test us?” asks Athelstan, “I’ve already given so much.”

Season 3 Episode 2: “The Wanderer”
Directed by Ken Girotti
Written and created by Michael Hirst
Starring Travis Fimmel, Clive Standen, Katheryn Winnick, Jessalyn Gilsig, George Blagden, and Gustaf Skarsgard.
The History Channel
Air Date: Thursday, February 26, 2015, 10:00pm

Last week on Vikings 3.1 “Mercenary“, the core Kattegat crew could not leave fast enough for Wessex to get what King Ecbert (Linus Roache) promised, leaving behind sad Aslaug, Siggy, and Helga (Alyssa Sutherland, Jessalyn Gilsig, and Maude Hirst, respectively). Of course he wants more.

Ragnar and company agree to fight for Princess Kwenthrith’s (Amy Bailey) stolen crown of Mercia by her father and brother. Bloody and bloodier it gets with Ragnar showing off his cunning battle strategy. Meanwhile King Ecbert gets his flirt on with Lagertha (Katherine Winnick), Athelstan (George Blagden) providing the translation, as they go to farm the lands. Lagertha left her lands in the hands of possible usurpers, so maybe she shouldn’t stay away too long.

Vikings Athelstan's Journal

Welcome to the next two chapters in the Vikings Season 3 webisode series, Athelstan’s Journal. “Chapter 8: Gods and Men” delves deeper into the devotion of these men to their gods and whether it is a selfish devotion or not. And then there seems to be an entirely new journal, for the just-released video “Stones and Bones Chapter 1: Vows,” where Athelstan seeks out the seer for answers.

Watch the two webisodes here below.

The series explains aspects of viking life through the eyes Athelstan (George Blagden), the slave turned BFF of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel).

It’s finally here! After teasing us for weeks with a sick trailer and evocative webisodes, and after we gave you 10 reasons to binge-watch the previous seasons while drinking a Vikings Amber Ale, the day has come. The Season 3 premiere is upon us!

Vikings Season 3 (spoilers ahead)!

We left our favorite heathens in Vikings Season 2, with Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) now a king, having killed King Horik (Donal Logue) for his plot to murder Ragnar and his family. Loyalty is thicker than hatred, and Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig) and Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) turned the traitorous tables. Seasons 1 and 2 had everything television connoisseur could ask for — excellent acting, sex, shocks, violence, blood, and gore … love, loyalty, struggle, a crucifixion, sweeping landscape, sacrifices to the old gods. Are you all caught up yet?
