Grammys 2015: Jeff Lynne’s ELO To Team With Ed Sheeran
  |

UPDATED WITH VIDEO of the performance – see bottom of this post.

Jeff Lynne, who carved a niche and added some electronically classical elements to rock and roll with the hit after hit 1970s ensemble ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), is set to perform tonight at the 57th Grammy Awards, which will air on CBS. Lynne’s ELO will be performing with Ed Sheeran, the British born latest musical flavor of the month. Alongside the pair will be talent like the legendary piano jazz man Herbie Hancock, guitarist John Mayer, and Questlove from The Roots.

No word on what the ELO lineup will be performing at the Grammys, but with the inclusion of Lynne, it’s a safe bet to say that an ELO tune or two might be heard on the stage, especially when that band had reunited and played its first live show in almost 30 years this past autumn.

Metallica & Lang Lang Perform ‘One’ At The Grammys 2014 (Video)
  |  @   |

In what was one of the most anticipated appearances of the night, legendary metal giants Metallica took the stage on Sunday night at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards to perform their song “One,” accompanied by renowned Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang, and audiences were not disappointed.

Video of the explosive performance is now online – watch it there below.

Metallica, whose Through The Never film soundtrack was nominated this year for a Grammy for Best Recording Package, was the first hard rock band to perform at the Grammy Awards back in 1989, where they were nominated for the then-new category Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for the album …And Justice For All. They performed “One” at the ceremony, but in one of the most memorable and controversial moments in Grammy Awards history, they lost to classic rockers Jethro Tull. Sunday’s performance was the band’s first time back on the Grammy stage since 1992.

King Diamond Is Back With Grammy Nomination
  |  @   |

Tonight is the live telecast of the 56th Annual Grammy Awards and while I typically dislike 99.9% of the music represented at this awards show, I will still tune in. It’s the one time of the year where I find out “who the fuck are those people” who dominate the current pop charts. Here’s the thing: If you’re not Madonna/Lady Gaga (same thing) or now Katy Perry (who I still call Cat-y Perry) or Beyonce (Mrs. Carter if you’re nasty), then I probably don’t know the hell you are and if I do, I’m probably baffled as to why anyone would consider you relevant.

Anyhow, all this to say, I have always felt and will likely always feel like the Grammys are complete bullshit.

So, why bother writing about the Grammys? Well, first, there’s the whole Metallica thing — I was a fan well before the Black Album was even conceived and was around for their first Grammy performance, so I’m looking forward to seeing them. Second, and most importantly, I’m psyched that King Diamond – and by King Diamond I mean King himself, not his band — has been nominated this year (the band was nominated in 2008 for “Never Ending Hill,” but lost to Slayer). King’s nomination, in the Best Metal Performance category, comes from his guest appearance on Volbeat’s song “Room 24.”

Metallica was in rehearsals this week preparing for this Sunday’s Grammy Awards ceremony where the heavy metal giants will perform their song “One” along with Chinese classical pianist Lang Lang.

Updates about the rehearsals along with accompanying photos of the seemingly mismatched musicians have been posted to Metallica’s social media accounts, with Lang posting to his Twitter on January 23, 2014 that he was in “epic rehearsal with the Metallica guys.”

Here below you can check out some photos of the rehearsal, which were posted to Metallica’s Facebook page.
