Benedict Cumberbatch is an Academy Award-nominated actor for best actor in The Imitation Game as well as a geek icon for his roles in TV’s Sherlock and The Hobbit and Star Trek film franchises, but people still get stuck on his name. There’s been so many versions of it — including Bandersnatch Cumberbund, Bumbershoot Cheeseburger, and Bandicoot Cabbagepatch — that his distinguished moniker has even inspired the creation of a name generator.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host was wondering what would it be like if the actor, who was recently cast as the lead in Marvel’s Doctor Strange, had a different name. So, Jimmy Kimmel got Cumberbatch to try out a few new names, including ones like Chad, Gary Miller (he works in agricultural insurance), and even Groot!
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn shared an image recently of a pretty freakin’ amazing Groot swing some parents made for their kid for an upcoming reality show called Super Fans, Super Builds. Whether they made it using a chainsaw or not is unknown.
The Groot statue towers over the wall surrounding their back yard, and the swing hangs off of his extended arm, just like a swing hanging from a tree branch. You can check it out below.
Today, I did an early morning workout to the sounds of thrash metal band Sepultura. A few hours later, I get a message about “Groots Bloody Groots,” a parody of the Sepultura song “Roots Bloody Roots” as if sung by Groot from Guardians Of The Galaxy. If you know about Guardians, then you know what Groot always says — I am Groot!
You can check out the video here below for “Groots Bloody Groots,” which contains footage of Dancing Groot from the Guardians film along with excessive headbanging as well as the lyrics so you can sing along!
