Harry Potter’s Eldest Son James Starts At Hogwarts School Today
  |  @   |

It’s September 1st, and many kids are getting ready to go back to school. It’s an emotional time, especially if your child is going somewhere new (my own baby starts NYU tomorrow!). But it’s not just the Muggles who are readying to hit the books; the young wizards of the Harry Potter universe will arrive today at Platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross to embark on their journey to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the start of the new school year.

This year is particularly notable as it marks the day that James Sirius Potter, the eldest child of Harry Potter and wife Ginny Weasley Potter, begins his first year at Hogwarts, according to author J.K. Rowling, who posted her best wishes to young James today via Twitter.

‘The Avengers’ Destroys Opening Weekend Record; Can It Beat ‘Avatar’?
  |  @   |

It’s looking more and more like it’s going to be a big summer at the box office. If The Hunger Games passing $600 million wasn’t enough (I know, it came out in March—movies don’t follow the seasons accurately), now the ultimate in superhero movies, The Avengers, has arrived, and it is laying waste to all that stand before it.

For those keeping track, that makes it the ALL-TIME biggest domestic opening ever recorded, usurping Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2‘s $169.1 million opening weekend as if brushing a particle of dust off one’s shoulder.

  |  @   |

TorrentFreak has released a rundown of the most pirated video games and movies of 2011.

Topping the list of games is the PC version of German developer Crytek’s hit sequel Crysis 2 with 3.92 million downloads, which is something of a surprise considering how many huge titles were released last year.
