Fast and Furious 6 races into theaters on May 24th, but it’s confirmed sequel, Fast and Furious 7, may lose yet another vital piece of the Fast and Furious franchise. After Justin Linconfirmed that he would not be able to direct the seventh installment – due to scheduling constraints – James Wan quickly became one of the frontrunners to helm the film. Now there is word that Dwayne Johnson may not be able to reprise his role because of scheduling conflicts of his own.
Speaking to Collider, Johnson said that his shooting schedule with Brett Ratner‘s Hercules film and the projected shooting date for Fast and Furious 7 clashes with each other in a way that will make him unable to reprise his role.
The cast for director Brett Ratner‘s next movie, Hercules, has added a handful of new actors to join Dwayne Johnson, who’s starring in the lead role.
New additions to the cast include Ian McShane (Deadwood, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love, Enemy at the Gates), John Hurt (Alien, Hellboy), Rufus Sewell (Dark City, A Knight’s Tale), Rebecca Ferguson (The White Queen), and Askel Hennie (Headhunters).
Millennium Films has hired Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger director Renny Harlin to make Hercules 3D, a new take on the mythological character.
Millennium is aiming at March of 2014 to release the movie, which is also an attempt at beating Paramount and MGM’s own Hercules movie based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian War, which is being directed by Brett Ratner and stars Dwayne Johnson in the lead role. That one will be released on August 8, 2014.
For many attendees of the Destination D experience, the last event was perhaps the most special, in that “An Evening with Alan Menken” touched the hearts and souls of everyone who has ever wanted to hear the master of his craft live.
Alan Menken, the composer behind the films and songs we know by heart, presented the most extraordinary two hours of music I have ever heard – and seen – in my life. Now that’s quite a statement. Some may call that a bit exaggerated, but as a devoted Disney fan, like almost all of my fellow audience members, we knew the gift we were being presented. Menken rarely performs publicly, so to hear his legendary stories and songs in person made this even more winning.
