Yesterday, Universal teased the technology that would transform regular looking people like Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden, Rebel Wilson, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Ian McKellen, and Judi Dench into felines for Cats, a film adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name.
Now the studio has released the first trailer for that film adaptation. And the results, are, well, you should probably just make that judgment for yourself. Check out the trailer below.
Universal has released a first look featurette Tom Hooper‘s film adaptation of Cats. Based on the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical which was inspired by on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot, the film will feature Lloyd Webber’s iconic music and a world-class cast of dancers, state-of-the-art technology, and dance styles ranging from ballet to contemporary, hip-hop to jazz, and street to tap to present the musical to a younger generation in a whole new way.
I can’t say I am overly familiar with Cats, but based on everything in the featurette, it will be using new tools and technologies to transform the actors into feline forms. Check the video below.
Warner Brothers has released an official trailer for The Good Liar from Academy Award winner Bill Condon, who previously directed everything from Gods and Monsters, Kinsey, and Dreamgirls to Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh, both parts of The Twilight Zone: Breaking Dawn, and Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast.
The movie stars fellow Academy Award winner Helen Mirren and nominee Ian McKellen. It’s based on author Nicholas Searle‘s novel of the same name, with the screenplay written by Jeffrey Hatcher (The Duchess, Casanova). It once again re-unites McKellen and Condon, who previously worked together on Gods and Monsters, Beauty and the Beast, and Mr. Holmes, which was also written by Hatcher.
You can find a synopsis for The Good Liar and watch the trailer below.
A little over a month ago it was confirmed that Amazon Studios was committed to making a multi-season TV series adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s The Lord of the Rings.
We’re a long way from casting on that show to begin, but one familiar name sounds ready to sign on: none other than Ian McKellen. The actor has played Gandalf in director Peter Jackson’s two massive movie trilogies, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. When asked about Amazon’s show recently, it sounded like McKellen might just be up for reprising his role as the great wizard in the series…if he were asked to. See what he had to say below.

Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast has already grossed close to $1.2 billion worldwide, and it debuted in theaters less than 3 months ago! The film received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. It somehow managed to retain the magic and aura of the 1991 animated Best Picture nominee (the first ever animated film to receive the honor), all the while breathing new wonder into the timeless story. Given 25+ years to review the original classic, the writers and Director Bill Condon covered up some of the continuity errors, and added a few beautiful new songs to mix alongside some of Disney’s most famous tunes like “Be Our Guest” and the titular number. Featuring a star-studded cast headlined by a radiant Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite films of 2017 thus far, as well as my 6-year old daughter’s, who loved every minute.
