We’re just a week away from the premiere of the highly anticipated eighth and final season of the HBO series Game Of Thrones. Not surprisingly, the network’s marketing machine is out in full force, especially in New York City, where the red carpet Season 8 premiere was held and also where a replica of the Iron Throne sat on display for a few days at Rockefeller Center.
On Saturday, in Studio 8H of 30 Rock, Kit Harington, one of the main stars of Game Of Thrones, hosted Saturday Night Live, where they of course incorporated the HBO series into some of the sketches. The opening monologue saw some guest appearances from Harington’s GoT co-stars, while a pre-recorded sketch gave us a promo of HBO’s multiple planned Game Of Thrones spinoff series.
Body Count, the 1990s metal band formed by rapper Ice-T, has released a video for their cover of Suicidal Tendencies‘ classic tale of woe, “Institutionalized.” The cover tune comes from the band’s 2014 comeback album Manslaughter, released via Sumerian Records, and contains heavily revised lyrics.
Watch the video here below (along with the original Suicidal version).
Ice started his career making rap albums in the 1980s before forming metal band Body Count and also making the jump to acting. Aside from his feature film roles in movies, the performer has made a name for himself in television, especially with his longtime role as NYPD Detective Odafin Tutuola on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Well, that crazy deep nerd shit has been released and is now available through Audible for FREE for a limited time!
The book Ice was referring to is R. A. Salvatore‘sThe Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories. Felicia Day, Dan Harmon, Greg Grunberg, Tom Felton, Danny Pudi, Sean Astin, Melissa Rauch, Ice-T, Wil Wheaton, Al Yankovic, Michael Chiklis, and David Duchovny each narrate one of the 12 tales included in this audiobook.
Ice-T has been many things in his 55 years of life: actor, rapper pimp, pot dealer, thief, prisoner, gang associate, bank robber, Army man, father, and reality TV star. Now, Ice has something new to add to his Wikipedia page: Dungeons & Dragons audiobook narrator.
The Law & Order actor talked about his new “out of the box” Audible project on the latest episode of his podcast, Ice T’s Final Level, which is sponsored in part by the Amazon-owned audiobook giant. While the actor knew he was booked for an audiobook narration gig, interestingly enough, he wasn’t told in advance what he’d be reading.
“They didn’t tell me this was a motherfuckin’ Dungeons & Dragons book,” Ice revealed, going on to explain what Dungeons & Dragons is for those who might not know, referring to the high fantasy world as “crazy, deep, deep, deep nerd shit.”
