Rumor For Your Thoughts: ‘Modern Warfare 4’ Already Confirmed?
  |  @   |

It’s almost a rhetorical question to ask—the Call of Duty video game franchise has grossed an insane amount of money over the past few years—but it’s still something that does have a question mark at the end. Has Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 been confirmed already, a couple of weeks before Call of Duty: Black Ops II arrives?

According to Bill Murray (no, not that one), the actor who voices the popular character Captain Price, development on the game has already begun.

‘Modern Warfare 3’ Shoots ‘Battlefield 3’ Feud Dead With Record-Setting $400 Million First Day
  |  @   |

Despite much drama and what looked like a significant potential fanbase loss, Activision has done it again, breaking the day-one video game release record for the third consecutive year with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

In its first 24 hours the game sold 6.5 million copies (including its record-breaking pre-orders), which equals out to $400 million. That breaks last year’s record of $360 million set by Call of Duty: Black Ops, and the prior year’s record of $310 million set by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

E3 2011: ‘Modern Warfare 3’ VS. ‘Battlefield 3’ … Which Will YOU Play?
  |  @   |

For those of you who don’t know, Activision’s Call of Duty video game franchise has been the top dog when it comes to warfare and especially when it comes to online (non-MMO) multiplayer action for a long while now. But after they forced out many of the top talent they had working for them at Infinity Ward, most fans were angered by the harsh, overdramatic tactics used in basically just “firing” these gentlemen, and confidence in how good the next chapter in their ultra-popular series, Modern Warfare 3, would end up being.

As all of that drama was playing out, DICE was busy making a game titled Battlefield 3 for EA using the new Frostbite 2 engine. And when a demo of how the game looked showed up, many bitter Call of Duty fans seemed ready to jump ship without a second thought…especially with rumors of Activision starting to charge people to play online. We eventually found out that the new pay service was simply an added bonus for those who wanted to get it, and that everyone could continue playing online as they have been…but is it too late already?

Both titles are being shown off in-depth at this year’s E3 convention, so all we can do is watch and see which way we’re leaning. You can see video “arguments” for both games below””watch them and share who you plan on playing come this fall! Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3…who will it be?

First ‘Modern Warfare 3’ Gameplay Trailer Shows Chaos In New York City, England, Paris & Germany
  |  @   |

The first gameplay trailer for Modern Warfare 3, the next installment in the mega-hit Call of Duty franchise, has found its way online.

Some people seem to be growing tired of the games, especially after the drama that ended in Activision strong-arming out many of their Infinity Ward employees, but for everyone who impatiently waits to see each year’s new title, you should be Christmas Morning-happy with what you’re about to see.

The first gameplay trailer shows off something teased in the very first trailer released for the game: that it would take place (at least partially) in New York City — a familiar location to all of us. But that won’t be the only location (though can you imagine a multiplayer map in the middle of Time Square, kids?); other places you’ll throw down with enemies include England, Paris, and Germany.

You can see the trailer by clicking on over to the other side now.

Activision Brings In New Team To Help Infinity Ward Develop ‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’
  |  @   |

Back in March of 2010, a strange string of events unfolded when news broke that a group of what was described as “bouncer-type” security guards entered the offices of Infinity Ward, the video game developers behind the popular Modern Warfare games in the Call of Duty franchise.

Ultimately it was revealed that two of the founders and current heads of Infinity Ward, Jason West and Vince Zampella, were fired by parent company Activision for “breaches of contract and insubordination,” leaving the future of the Modern Warfare series in question.

While many lawsuits have come of that mess, Activision has re-staffed all of the vacant positions at Infinity Ward and — even though the game hasn’t been officially announced — they have been working on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ever since, with full expectations to meet their normal November release date…until now. It’s being reported by The LA Times that Activision has brought in a new team to help develop the third installment, which means things might not be going so smoothly.
