It’s still hard to believe that Game of Thrones is over. There were times when it seemed like the next season might never arrive, and now all eight seasons have come and gone. After its premiere back in 2011, the series quickly developed a rabid fanbase and became a television juggernaut. It was, quite simply, one of the biggest series ever made.
But while the show has indeed ended, HBO released Game of Thrones: The Complete Series last month so that fans can re-visit the story in its entirety whenever they wish to.
When Apple TV+ launches later this fall, it won’t have much of anything to watch. That being said, it will start to release more and more original content in the weeks after its release. One of the biggest titles is See, which Apple has released an official trailer for.
Written by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises) and directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay), it is set in a future where man can no longer see and are forced to “find new ways to interact, to build, to hunt, to survive.” But their new ways are challenged when a set of twins who have the ability to see are born. The series stars Jason Momoa as the leader of a tribe and the father of the two children who can see. Check out the trailer below.
Now that Game of Thrones has come and gone, we knew it was only a matter of time before HBO announced a home video release including all of the seasons packaged together.
Now that day has come, with the unveiling of Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection. The collection features all eight seasons of the show—73 episodes total on 33 discs—as well as over 15 hours of bonus features to enjoy, all presented in a wooden box with art by Robert Ball, who’s responsible for the excellent “Beautiful Death” series.
You can find more info on the collection and other announced releases—including the complete series without the limited edition collectible packaging and season eight by itself—below, along with a video previewing the release and a clip for a reunion special included in the bonus features.
Apple has unveiled Apple TV+, their very own subscription-based streaming service. This is a huge moment for the tech giant, which will now be entering the ring with the likes of Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu to deliver original content from some of the best storytellers. Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, M. Night Shyamalan, Ron Howard, Octavia Spencer, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Sofia Coppola, Reese Witherspoon, Hailee Steinfeld, and Damien Chazelle are among those who already have titles on the way which will be available exclusively on Apple TV+.
Though a lot of the details on what we could see are still limited, a pair of preview videos show us what to expect from the streaming service. Check out the videos below.
Frank Herbert‘s sci-fi epic Dune is being adapted for the big screen once again. The film, which is being directed by Denis Villeneuve, is a sprawling epic featuring a large number of characters that are part of royal families competing over a valuable planetary resource. In the film, one of the noble families is betrayed and it is up to one of the dutiful royal sons to lead a rebellion that will help restore his family’s claim. But this won’t be just another sci-fi film adaptation, as the film will explore themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship with nature.
We know that Villeneuve has assembled quite a cast to appear in this possible two-part epic. And now, another actor has joined the fray. According to new reports, Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s David Dastmalchian will join the film. More on the report below.
