Netflix continues to release impressive trailers for intriguing new movies and TV shows. This time it’s for an original movie titled The Discovery, and it looks like one hell of trip.
The strange looking movie is a science fiction romance, telling the story of two people who fall in love in a time when the afterlife is not one of life’s greatest and most debated mysteries anymore—it’s been scientifically proven to be real. Because of this astonishing discovery, an alarming number of people are killing themselves off. If you know there’s more after death why wait, right?
Jason Segel (The Muppets) and Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) to write and co-direct the latest LEGO Movie spinoff, The Billion Brick Race. The two, better known for their writing, will be making their directorial debuts with the new film. Ninjago and The LEGO Batman Movie are among the other LEGO-related movie spinoffs slated for release.
We can’t be sure what the film will be about since it is in the early stages of development. But if Segel and Pearce are on board as writers and directors, then you can be sure it will be funny and action-packed. Hit the jump for more.

Another week, another edition of The Digital Wire here at Geeks of Doom. Try not to look so enthusiastic. Major Blu-ray/DVD release announcements were scant this week, but news of some interesting titles soon to make their way to multiple home viewing platforms wasn’t, so I’ve compiled the best of the odds ‘n’ ends. We’ve got undead girlfriends, some Southern-fried slaughter, mismatched cops tearing up the Windy City, salacious studio hilarity, and one of the best-reviewed motion pictures of 2014. So I guess that last one is a pretty major announcement. My bad.
Below you’ll find info on several future home video releases complete with technical specs, release dates, and links to pre-order at Amazon. We would greatly appreciate it if you use those links to order because a small percentage of each order helps keep this website running at max power.
As I have discussed on Disney In Depth recently, the purchase of three key film properties – Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm – that have further realized Disney’s influence in the entertainment industry. Even the 2004 acquisition of The Muppets has forever changed the outlook for Jim Henson’s most adored faces. All of these characters unite the geek community, even those who enjoy Disney. In this edition, I will share some popular YouTube videos that spoof Marvel Studios, Pixar, Muppet, Star Wars and “regular” Disney films by featuring some famous personalities from the whole Disney universe.
