Patrick Sean Smith To Adapt Jeff Smith Comic ‘Bone’ For Warner Bros.; P.J. Hogan Directing

Back in 2008, Warner Brothers secured the rights to turn the popular Jeff Smith comic book, Bone, into a movie. Now things are beginning to move forward with the news that Patrick Sean Smith has been hired to write the adaptation, and P.J. Hogan has been hired to direct.

Smith is the creator of the ABC Family series Greek, and also acted as a writer and producer on it. He’s also written episodes of Everwood and Supernatural. Hogan directed Muriel’s Wedding, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Confessions of a Shopaholic, as well as wrote and directed the 2003 live-action Peter Pan.

Hey digital comics lovers, you’ve heard of Bone, right? Well, if you have and you haven’t read it yet, I know that you’ve been meaning to read this epic comic for quite some time. How do I know that? Because I’m one of you. Sure, I’ve read some of it, but it’s been a very long time since I have and I barely remember what I read. So, this sale is for us. The GoD List: Comics For November 30, 2011

Each and every week “The American Dragon” MK2Fac3 and “Hall of Pain” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of November 30, 2011. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

So, how was everyone’s Thanksgiving, huh? Did you get all full on your family dinners? Was it a lot of fun? Did you go out and shop at midnight on Black Friday? Or maybe you waited by your computer for all the Amazon Black Friday deals! I’ll bet that was a blast! Well, get over it! It’s a new week and hardly anything is coming out, so you can either be thankful that you don’t have to spend that much money this week, or you could head over to look at our Amazon wish lists and get US something! You ever think of that?? Sorry folks, I’m bitter and grumpy because I haven’t slept in days. Our editor has chained me to my laptop and it’s burning my arms. Make it stop!

C2E2 2010: ‘Bone’ Animated Movie Still In the Works

During the Jeff Smith spotlight panel at C2E2 this past weekend, one of the questions asked to the creator was what the status on the Bone animated movie was. According to Smith, Warner Bros is working with a company called Animalogic and they have already done a 3D animation test and are continuing to move forward on the project. Animalogic has worked on other 3D films before, notably Happy Feet.

Smith was also asked whether he would prefer a Bone movie to be filmed in 3D or if he would have preferred a more traditional hand drawn 2D style, and while he admitted he would have preferred the 2D style, he understood that no one would front the money unless it was made in the more popular 3D computer-generated style.
