Last time on Supernatural, Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles) went vampire hunting – Sam with Mary (Samantha Smith), and Dean with Ketch (one of the British Men of Letters). It was a trick though, because only one vamp was there, while the real attack by the alpha (The Magicians’Rick Worthy) was aimed at the Men of Letters hideout where Sam and Mary were. He was sick of his “babies” being killed. They win via the Colt (yes, the Colt – Sam had a bullet-making recipe handy). Sam wanted to join the British Men of Letters even though they had tortured him.

Last time on Supernatural, Castiel (Misha Collins) almost died, thanks to a yellow-eyed prince of hell, Mary (Samantha Smith), and the Men of Letters. Crowley (Mark Sheppard) helped too, by giving Ramiel an angel-killing lance, but redeemed himself by using it to cure Cass when he was on the brink of death. He put Ramiel in a cage, before revealing it was really Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino). Richard Speight Jr (The Trixter/Gabriel) directed this episode, and the tone was as different as he is.

Last week on Supernatural, Dean (Jensen Ackles) was hit with a whammy of a witch spell that made him slowly lose his memories. Although nice to see Dean a bit happy for once, we and Sam (Jared Padalecki) were quite worried as soon he would forget how to breathe. Rowena (Ruth Connell) came to the rescue, as the culprits were a family of witches that needed to be put down to save Dean, and just because.

Last time on Supernatural, an angel-killing lady started taking out some of Castiel’s (Misha Collins) winged associates. He met two of them, and Dean and Sam (Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki) tagged along. One then died at the hands of Lily Sunder (Alicia Witt), but they saved Ishim. The whole sordid story came out. Ishim was really a douche who was obsessed with Lily. So angry that she had taken up with another angel, he killed her angel husband and human child, lying to his brethren that the child was a nephilim. He also thought humans were animals. She bided her time and studied angel magic until she was powerful enough to kill him. Castiel ended up killing Ishim to save them all and to atone for his part in it.

Last week on Supernatural, Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles) were in solitary confinement for the attempted assassination of the president (Lucifer in a president meat suit). Torture they could handle, but the loneliness of solitary, marked by etchings on a wall and a gross food tray were too much for them. They called on Billie (Lisa Berry) to get them out via death, and they came back to life on a morgue table. They got out but still needed help, so called Castiel and Mary (Misha Collins and Samantha Smith), who had been looking for them frantically, while hunting in between. The latter two called upon the Men of Letters for help, and they did… almost too well. When Billie came back for her price (a Winchester), Mary stepped forward. But Castiel killed Billie, and Dean is pissed about possible “cosmic consequences.”
