For those who haven’t watched any of Netflix’s solo Marvel outings, let’s do a little roll call. There’s “The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen,” aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox). After that it’s the smart-ass detective otherwise known as Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), the righteous ex-con. Then there’s the “Hero of Harlem,” or who we know as Luke Cage (Mike Colter). Finally, there’s the kid with a glowing fist aka Iron Fist (Finn Jones). These otherwise heroes of New York City have been defending the streets from one threat or another, and now after two years of build up, the pay off is finally coming to Netflix this summer in The Defenders.
The first trailer for the Marvel superhero ensemble has finally arrived. Together with the help of some friends like Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), and Stick (Scott Glenn), they will protect their streets from the mysterious Hand and a new villain played by Sigourney Weaver. Check out the trailer below.
If you feel like you’ve seen the latest Marvel series on Netflix, Iron Fist, before without actually having seen it yet, it’s because the show shares a couple of themes with its own films and even DC competitors. A wealthy Caucasian protagonist is taken out of civilization and is taught by a wise sage-like character, usually of Far East descent – or Celtic if you are counting Doctor Strange – and comes home to find his company in the wrong hands involved with some sort of corruption. But then there is also the issue of cultural appropriation.
Whatever the problems may be, thematically, its seems like it’s going to get worse before it gets better, as Iron Fist is being hailed as one of the first missteps for Netflix. Check out some of the early reactions below.
Today is International Women’s Day, an observance that celebrates the importance of women and their place in the world. However, women still continue to fight for equality. While the struggle may be real, you can find inspiration from strong women everywhere, including in pop culture. So it seems like the perfect time for Netflix to release an Iron Fist featurette centering on the female lead Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick).
Before the Marvel heroes of New York City can assemble to become The Defenders, they have to introduce the title character of Iron Fist.
Netflix has just released the newest trailer for the upcoming series, which centers on Danny Rand’s (Finn Jones) return to reclaim what is rightfully his. As with all trailers, there is a bunch of new footage that lays out the simple premise of the series. Check it all out below.
It has been two long years, but finally, the heroes of the Netflix and Marvel collaboration are finally getting together for The Defenders. Even if that means they have to fight amongst themselves to do it.
The first handful of images from the new series have finally arrived and it gives us our first look at the heroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Coulter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) together as well as the series’ first antagonist, the mysterious Alexandra, who will be played by Sigourney Weaver. Check out the new images below.
