It was revealed today that WGN America has decided to develop a TV series based on the DC/Vertigo Comics series Scalped. The comics series, created by writer Jason Aaron with art by RM Guera, revolves around the life of Dashiell Bad Horse, a cop who goes back to the reservation he grew up on so he can go undercover to bring down the corrupt leader of the tribal council Lincoln Red Crow.
Scalped will not be the first original series for WGN America, which will launch its first series, Salem, on April 20th 2014. It will also join a heavy slate of DC Comics properties in development, joining the previously announced Gotham, The Flash, Constantine, Hourman, Preacher, and iZombie.

As kids, we all wanted a superpower…right? Okay, be honest here. That carried through to adulthood, didn’t it? Especially when we go see any of the blockbuster comic-based films that Hollywood has turned (or churned) out in the last decade or two. Well, Uncanny #1 is the story of a guy with just such an ability. What he does with it is less than spectacular, but we all make poor decisions from time to time.
Okay, first off it’s good to know who you’re dealing with here. The guy’s name is Weaver and he’s a con artist. Sure, he’s got the badass ability to siphon the thoughts and knowledge from people that he touches, but he uses it to gamble and cheat people out of their money. Unfortunately for him, this information that he absorbs is very temporary. And he’s started noticing that his power is becoming slightly unreliable, though he has no idea why. But Weaver’s life is about to change. Other folks have taken an interest in him and, luckily, they’ve got pretty good timing. A last minute rescue finds him racing off with no idea what the future holds.
There is nothing more painful to a movie poster collector than not getting a Mondo poster. I honestly cannot think of a moment where I did not want to get one, and every time I tried to get one, all I saw was that it was sold out.
So for those who have been looking for their own opportunity to get a Mondo poster sans the use of the Internet, then you are in luck, because they will be selling a poster for Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises at their booth tomorrow at a very special time.
Put on your capes and cowls, everybody! There’s pine needles on the living room floor, snow on the ground, and a scent of cinnamon in the air. Your dogs and cats are tearing apart wrapping paper, your family’s in town and you can’t stop drinking sparkling cider for some reason. That could only mean one thing, folks, it’s the nondescript religious holiday season! And that means that it’s time to go into credit card debt so that you can show those closest to you that you care, you know? And to make it a little bit easier on you guys, we here at Geeks of Doom have been shoveling our driveways so that we can deliver to you this, The Holiday Geek Gift Guide – Batman Edition! The best bat-gifts possible for the geeks on you gift-giving list!
As you can see, I’ve changed up the intro a smidge, and that’s simply because today we celebrate the holiday in the best way possible, with The Batman. Yes, The Batman. And while it may not make much sense to you that we’re doing this, you fail to realize that Batman makes everything better. In fact, the presence of Batman-centric holiday gift guide on this site makes not only this site better, but also it makes the world better. And isn’t that truly what the holidays are about? Making things better or something like that? Sure, why not! Anyway, it’s been a pretty big year for The Dark Knight, and that will certainly be evidenced by the majority of this list. We’ll also be making it a little easier on you by narrowing this list down by separate topics such as comics (and comic-inspired items), statues, Batman: Year One, and Arkham City. Sure there will be some overlap, but that’s all right because we’re talking about Batman! So let’s start of with the merriest of merries, comic books!
Each and every week “Team Shawn” MK2Fac3 and “Team Sam Covington” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of November 23, 2011. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.
It’s that time of year, boys and girls! It’s Thanksgiving! A time when pumpkins are on porches, there’s a nip in the air, and witches are on broomsticks! No wait, that’s not it. It’s the time of year when psychotic bunny rabbits rise from the dead to hide plastic eggs in your yard with chocolate in a basket or your doorsteps! No, that’s not it, either. It’s the time of year when you get Christmas presents and make snow angels! Crap, why can’t I get this right!? One last shot, it’s that time of year when you get your significant other a box of chocolates! CURSE WORD! Screw it, it’s Wednesday and comics are out, and this is what we’re freaking looking forward to, bros. And we gotta tell ya, there’s a large amount of super collections, so get on it, and take your wallet. You might even need to sell a kidney because that’s what I’m doing. I’m typing this from a bathtub full of ice! Somebody please send a doctor. I’m scared.
