WTF? Nicolas Cage Once Sought By Joel Schumacher For What Would Have Been ‘Batman Triumphant’?
  |

With hindsight being 20/20, the fact that a third film in the amazingly craptastic run of Batman films directed by Joel Schumacher seems laughable and unlikely. However, one must remember that there was indeed a third film planned.

Following Batman And Robin, Mark Protosevich had written a draft of a new film, Batman Triumphant, which would have seen the maligned filmmaker get back behind the camera for another take at the caped crusader.

‘Source Code’ Writer Hired For ‘Flatliners’ Remake
  |  @   |

Sony has signed Ben Ripley, who wrote the screenplay for the Duncan Jones mind-bender Source Code, to pen a remake of the 1990 film Flatliners, which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, and William Baldwin.

The original Joel Schumacher film centered on a group of medical students conducting near-death experiments.

Laurence Mark will produce the new film, which Deadline reports will be “a contemporary reimagining.” Right, remake, exactly, except let me guess: the group uses the Internet — better yet, Facebook! — to conduct the experiments!

Film Legend & ‘Batman’ Star Michael Gough Has Died
  |

Sad news across the world for geeks today, as word has reached us that the wonderful actor, Michael Gough, has passed away. He was 94 years old. To most people, Michael Gough was well known for his role as Alfred Pennyworth in the 1990’s Batman movie series, beginning with Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989 and right through Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin in 1997.

However, this wasn’t Michael Gough’s first involvement in a franchise loved by geeks internationally. A very young Gough appeared as The Celestial Toymaker in Doctor Who back in 1965. The episode, The Celestial Toymaker, saw Gough act with the First Doctor William Hartnell. He would later appear with Fifth Doctor Peter Davison, playing a different role, in the episode Arc of Infinity.

DVD Review: Blood Creek
  |

Blood Creek
Directed by Joel Schumacher
Starring Dominic Purcell, Henry Cavill, Michael Fassbender, Emma Booth
Lionsgate and Gold Circle Films
Release Date: January 19, 2010

Those Nazis were into some weird stuff, and despite being defeated 65 years ago, filmmakers are still finding ways to make them the villains. In the case of Blood Creek, the villain is a single Nazi, Professor Richard Wirth (Michael Fassbender), who travels to America prior to WWII in search of mysterious runestones. His search brings him to the farm of a German family in Town Creek, West Viriginia. Wirth, a student of the occult, finds what he’s looking for — an ancient runestone he believes holds the secret to immortality — but not before war breaks out.

Seventy years later, Victor Marshall (Dominic Purcell) disappears for nearly two years in the same town. When he reemerges in the middle of the night looking like a tortured caveman, he refuses to explain his absence to his brother Evan (Henry Cavill) and demands his help. Evan does as he is asked without getting the details. Personally, if my feared-dead brother suddenly reappeared after two years looking like he had been through hell and demanded I grab as much ammo as possible and follow him, I would probably ask a question or two.
