Questioning the nature of reality seems to be a common theme in shows nowadays. And we will get to see that in the new Netflix series Maniac starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. The series comes from True Detective season 1 director Cary Fukunaga and sees its characters participating in a mysterious pharmaceutical trial that puts them in alternate realities while those conducting the experiment find themselves on opposite sides of the ethics of the experiment.
Best known for his comedic performances in movies like Superbad and 21 Jump Street and his two Academy Award-nominated performances in The Wolf of Wall Street and Moneyball, Jonah Hill steps behind the camera for Mid90s, his feature directorial debut.
An official trailer for the film has been released by A24, and it’s one that will no doubt make anyone who grew up in the ’90s feel a little nostalgic. It follows a teenage boy with a rough home life and a love for skateboarding’s summer in Los Angeles.
