Warning – Spoilers for Better Call Saul Episode 1.7 “Bingo.”
AMC’s Better Call Saul Episode 1.7 “Bingo” aired Monday night and it brought the Kettlemans back to Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), who must decide whether he wants to be their lawyer now that they’ve fired his rival’s law firm. It should be a triumphant moment for Jimmy, who was nearly killed earlier in the season when his scheme to attract their business backfired and he came face-to-face for the first time with the crazed thug Tuco Salamanca. But, instead of gloating, Jimmy has no interest in taking on their embezzlement case, but the Kettlemans have something to hold over Jimmy, which makes him reassess the entire situation.
The network has released the “most talked about scene” from the episode, which sees Jimmy arrive at the Kettleman home to talk to them about his decision whether to represent them. AMC has also released a behind-the-scenes featurette that’s a 4-minute “Inside Look” at the episode which touches upon a lot of elements, like Jimmy and Kim’s relationship; Jimmy’s new office; Kim’s failure with the Kettlemans; Jimmy’s brother Chuck’s progress; Mike and Jimmy’s growing teamwork; and all the trouble that the Kettlemans are.

Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul Episode 1.7 “Bingo,” the embezzling Kettlemans are back and they’ve had a change of heart about hiring Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) to be their counselor. While Mrs. Kettleman previously described Jimmy as the kind of lawyer that guilty people hire and as it turns out, they are guilty as hell. And they were sloppy about their crime, too, yet they believe they should be able to keep the $1.6 million that Mr. Kettleman stole from the county as well as stay out of jail and maintain their innocence and they think that Jimmy is the person who can do this for them.
While we’ve seen Jimmy’s Breaking Bad alter ego Saul Goodman in action with clients like this, even the hustler he becomes could not give these people everything they want. But, Better Call Saul is a prequel, where Jimmy is just getting his start. We see him in this episode hosting a BINGO game at the local nursing home, which is filled with his new clientele now that he’s taken up elder law. But, when the Kettlemans call and threaten to implicate him in their crime, since he actually took a bribe from them, Jimmy’s hands are tied. He has to take the case or go down with them.

Sneak Peek: Better Call Saul 1.7 “Bingo” (Video)
|
|
In this week’s installment of Better Call Saul, Episode 1.6 “Five-O,” Jimmy McGill (Bob OdenKirk) and his neverending quest to increase his clientele took a back seat to Mike Ehrmantraut’s (Jonathan Banks) story. While we know him as the muscle behind drug kingpin Gus Fring’s operation in Breaking Bad, in AMC’s prequel series Saul, he’s just a parking lot clerk. At least that’s what Jimmy has been thinking all this time; that is, until the lawyer gets called down to represent Mike, who’s wanted for questioning by the Philadelphia Police Department in the murder of two of their officers.
We learned a lot about Mike and his past, more than I think we ever expected. Definitely more than Jimmy ever thought he’d know. But, now it’s time for Jimmy to get back to his main focus – his business.
AMC has released a sneak peek at the next episode, Episode 1.7 “Bingo,” which sees Jimmy showing fellow lawyer Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) his huge new office space — it’s more than just a step up from his previous space in a tiny back room of a nail salon.

AMC’s Better Call Saul Episode 1.6 “Five-O” aired Monday night and it was all about Mike and his mysterious past and how it’s come back to haunt him in the present. Aside from Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), who becomes Mike’s lawyer, the rest of the cast of characters is absent.
