One big question about Jordan Peele‘s spiritual sequel to the 1992 horror classic Candyman, was whether original star Tony Todd would return to once again play the iconic title role or if someone new would be cast.
Now it appears we have an answer. It’s being reported that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has entered into negotiations to play the new Candyman in the movie.
Slowly but surely the spiritual sequel to Candyman, which is being produced by Jordan Peele, is coming into focus. Last year, the film started by hiringNia DaCosta (Little Woods) to act as director.
And now, they may have found a big star. According to a new report, Sorry To Bother You star Lakeith Stanfield is being eyed to appear in the film. More on the report below.
Rian Johnson‘s latest featureKnives Out will be his follow-up directorial effort after Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Daniel Craig was one of the first to join the film, which is being described as a mystery thriller. 20th Century Fox has announced release dates for the recent hit Sorry to Bother You on digital, Blu-ray, and DVD, as well as a list of the bonus features that will be included in the home video release.
The movie is directed by hip-hop artist and activist Boots Riley, and stars Lakeith Stanfield as a struggling telemarketer who discovers the magical secret to achieving career success, which leads him into a strange new world. Tessa Thompson, Danny Glover, Terry Crews, Patton Oswalt, Jermaine Fowler, David Cross, Omari Hardwick, Steven Yeun, and Armie Hammer also star.

An adaptation of Ron Wimberly‘s graphic novel Prince of Cats is on the way.
Legendary won an auction to acquire the feature rights, and are developing the adaptation with Lakeith Stanfield attached to star. The story is described as a re-telling of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet set in the ’80s.
