‘Mortal Kombat’ Film Casts Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Shang Tsung, and Kano

The new film adaptation of the popular fighting game series Mortal Kombat will be adding even more characters to its roster. Following the castings of Joe Taslim (The Raid) as cryomancer ninja Sub-Zero, Ludi Lin (Black Mirror) as the Shaolin warrior Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks (Supergirl) as the steel-armed Jax, Tadanobu Asano (Thor: Ragnarok) as the thunder god Raiden, and Sisi Stringer as the deadly Mileena, comes some new players.

According to new reports, Chin Han (The Dark Knight), Hiroyuki Sanada (The Wolverine, Avengers: Endgame), Jessica McNamee (The Meg), Josh Lawson (Superstore), and Lewis Tan (Deadpool 2) will all be playing fighters who join the deadly tournament. More on who they will play below.

‘The Raid’ Star Joe Taslim Cast As Sub-Zero In Latest ‘Mortal Kombat’ Movie

The first casting for the latest Mortal Kombat movie has been revealed. It’s being reported that Joe Taslim has landed a role in the movie, with the actor set to play Sub-Zero.

Taslim broke out with a role in the 2011 Indonesian cult action hit The Raid: Redemption. Since then, he’s had roles in Fast & Furious 6, Star Trek Beyond, The Night Comes for Us, and the Cinemax series Warrior.

Producer Talks ‘Tetris’ Movie; Confirms It Will Be First Of Trilogy

Back in 2014 came the surprising announcement that a movie based on the last video game you’d expect a movie adaptation of, Tetris, was being developed. Then, just last month, it was revealed that not only had the movie secured funding and was officially a go, but that it could end up being a trilogy of movies instead of just one.

Now producer Larry Kasanoff (Mortal Kombat, True Lies) is talking Tetris, and he has confirmed that the plan is indeed to make a trilogy. Continue reading to see what he had to say, including why they’re planning three movies.

‘Tetris’ Movie Trilogy Or How We’re Scraping The Bottom Of The Barrel

Video game adaptations are generally the worst of the worst when it comes to movies. Few are any good, but some manage to gain cult notoriety. The last video game title you’d suspect would get the film treatment might be the block-dropping game Tetris. However, we were all proven wrong when it was announced that a movie based on the video game was heading into production.

Developed by Threshold Entertainment and Larry Kasanoff, who was a producer on the Mortal Kombat movies of the ’90s (as well as various other MK-related titles) and movies like True Lies and Strange Days, the film has managed to find the necessary funding to get made. But not only that, it now looks like it could become a trilogy. More on the story below.

Wait, What? ‘Tetris’ Movie Being Developed

Movies that are based on video games usually result in an unwatchable disaster of a final product, and so, naturally, it’s time for a movie based on possibly the last video game you’d expect to see adapted: Tetris.

The movie is being developed by Threshold Entertainment and Larry Kasanoff, who was a producer on the Mortal Kombat movies of the ’90s (as well as various other MK-related titles) and movies like True Lies and Strange Days.
