KISS Announce Las Vegas Residency At The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
  |  @   |

After negotiations that lasted for more than a year, The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has announced that they will be hosting the first-ever Vegas residency by legendary showmen KISS. The Joint, is a 3200-seat venue on the grounds of the Hotel where the band will stage their over-the-top production.

“Usually, going into a smaller venue means eliminating things,” KISS front man Paul Stanley said in a statement released today. “The great thing about going into The Joint, it gives us the opportunity to add. Much in the same way as a Broadway show, when you have a permanent installation, you’re not breaking down every night to travel. So we can do things we wouldn’t normally do.”

Geek Tech: A Glimpse Into The Future; Are YOU Ready For Electronic Cereal Boxes?
  |  @   |

Is this the future? Some wild technology is here right now, and it could just be revving up to change the world as we know it.

At the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, many demonstrations were shown off. One of them involved a new wireless technology that would deliver a whole new type of power source to our homes and beyond.

For the demonstration, Fulton Innovation — the technology’s creator — brought along some shelving and surfaces that look pretty much like any other shelving or surface you might look at. What’s not seen, however, is power surging through these surfaces, which makes some very interesting things possible. The most entertaining of these, for those who aren’t interested in the scientific stuff, are cereal boxes; they look just like regular cereal boxes, naturally, but when placed on these special surfaces, the cereal boxes illuminate playfully. Something sure to catch the eye of any passing child. But that, my friends, is just the beginning.

You can see a much more in-depth video of these crazy-cool cereal boxes and the even crazier technology behind them, as well as read about some more useful possibilities by heading on over to the other side now.

Want To Turn Your House Into The USS Enterprise? Massive ‘Star Trek’ Yard Sale Is For You!
  |  @   |

So you’re a Trekkie, eh? These are the days that you dream of.

A company in Las Vegas called Propworx is preparing to sell around a thousand different items from Star Trek: The Experience, which ran for ten years and shut down in 2008. The many items will apparently be sold via auction and in a giant warehouse (okay, so it’s not really a yard sale, but close enough) tomorrow.

The attraction featured many replications and props from the Trek universe, and also featured some popular rides. These rides included an encounter with the Klingons and even a 4D Borg attack.

San Diego Makes $753 Million Push To Keep Comic Con At Home
  |  @   |

The San Diego Comic Con is the end-all be-all of yearly movie, TV, and comic book conventions. It’s the convention where the biggest movies show off their newest footage, it’s where major announcements are made, and there is no other better place for one to completely disappear into an ocean of excited fanboys and girls who are buzzing with excitement…and likely dressed as their favorite characters.

Due to this scorching Summer celebration of all things geek, popularity in the convention has constantly grown over the years. It’s gotten to the point where so many people attend it’s painfully impossible to comfortably attend; hotels are hard to find, lines are infinite, and the many various halls replace oxygen with far more people than capacity would indicate.

With San Diego’s claim to the convention set for expiration in 2012, many other locations have began bidding for the right to claim it as their own. And because of the many aforementioned flaws, this has not sounded like the worst idea ever, despite the fact that it would be strange for Comic Con to be held anywhere but its beautiful San Diego home.
