The Green Inferno

The Green Inferno
Director: Eli Roth
Screenwriter: Eli Roth, Guillermo Amoedo
Cast: Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Sky Ferreira, Nicolas Martinez, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Aaron Burns
Universal Pictures | Blumhouse
Rated R | 121 Minutes
Release Date: September 25, 2015

Finally, after two years of waiting, Eli Roth‘s The Green Inferno has reached theaters. Roth burst onto the horror scene back in 2002 with the low budget Cabin Fever, about a group of friends whose fun small town weekend is ruined by crazy local hillbillies and a flesh eating virus. His offbeat sense of humor and gross-out effects signaled that he was a force to be reckoned with. Then came 2005’s Hostel, and its superior 2007 sequel which garnered notoriety and helped coin the phrase “torture porn.” He has since collaborated with Quentin Tarantino (!), and been busy producing horror films and TV projects.

In 2013, Roth completed The Green Inferno, his tribute to his favorite movie – Ruggero Deodato’s notorious 1980 Cannibal Holocaust. That film caused such a stir that director Deodato was arrested on suspicion that he actually killed his crew, and had to demonstrate scenes in court. It is still banned in parts of the world. A squabble between film distributors left Roth’s pet project in limbo, until Blumhouse Productions swooped in as saviors and here we are.

Eli Roth Knock Knock Keanu Reeves

Oftentimes looks can be deceiving, but when it comes to two seemingly harmless women looking to get shelter from the pouring rain, one might think to offer them a helping hand by letting them in. Of course, sometimes those kind gestures can get you into some serious trouble, especially when it comes to Even (Keanu Reeves), a happily married man who gets into some trouble when two beautiful women (Lorenza Izzo and Ana de Armas) come knocking on his door.

Now Lionsgate has released a brand new trailer for Eli Roth’s latest film Knock Knock, showing what happens when temptation comes knocking. Check it out here below.

Eli Roth Aftershock

Aftershock
Directed by Nicolas Lopez
Starring Eli Roth, Andrea Osvart, Ariel Levy, Natasha Yarovenko, Nicolas Martinez, Lorenza Izzo, Selena Gomez
Rated R
Release date: May 10, 2013 (Limited & VOD)

Eli Roth originally came on the Hollywood scene as a writer and director of retro style horror films. He crafted the films Cabin Fever and the surprisingly disturbing Hostel. Since those movies though he has produced others and has been acting quite a bit. In Aftershock, Roth is mostly just a figurehead behind the scenes on this one, as his main focus is being one of the lead actors. The film does feature a “presented by Eli Roth” topper, but that just again means figurehead. He is, however, listed as one of the writers along with three others. The writing credit makes me wonder if his influence is mostly in the odd humor that was added to the story. If so, he actually could be responsible for some of the main flaws in Aftershock.
