LAOFCS Nominees Include ‘Searching,’ ‘A Star Is Born,’ ‘Black Panther,’ ‘Beale Street,’ More

As the end of the year rolls around critics associations and respective guilds are announcing their best of the year. The Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society, or LAOFCS for short, have recently announced their list of nominees that recognize the best in film, acting, directing, writing, and more. Additionally, they have a few other nominations that separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Awards like Best Female Director, Best Visual Effects Performance, and Best Stunts are all a part of the awards ensemble.

So while it comes as no surprise that films like A Star Is Born, If Beale Street Could Talk, and BlackKklansman have all earned nominations, there are a few surprises like Searching that could help get the film more attention. As a member of the LAOFCS, it’s great to see that there is a group of critics who recognize everything that films have to offer. From female and male directors to the young actors of tomorrow. Two weeks ago the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society announced their nominations for the best of 2017. The categories and members are just as diverse as its members, which casts a reflection on today’s society.

Now with awards season in full swing, the society have named the winners. Guillermo del Toro‘s The Shape of Water is the biggest winner, taking home awards for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Male Director, and Best Score. Lady Bird, Get Out, and Baby Driver are among the other notable winners of the year. You can check out all of the winners below.

Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society Announces Nominations For The Best Of 2017

It’s the end of the year, and that means various critics associations will be unveiling their nominations for their favorite films, performances, scores, etc of the year. The Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society is among the first to do so.

Guillermo del Toro‘s The Shape Of Water has nabbed the most nominations with 11, followed by the nine earned by Greta Gerwig‘s highly acclaimed coming-of-age film Lady Bird. Christopher Nolan‘s Dunkirk and Jordan Peele‘s Get Out were also among the most notable titles to be nominated this year.
