BookExpo 2019 Publisher Spotlight: Weldon Owen
  |  @   |

Back in June, BookExpo and BookCon came to Jacob Javitz Convention Center in NYC where book lovers galore swarmed publishing booths, with industry people there for the expo and book fans for the con. One of the most interesting booths I visited was Weldon Owen, an imprint of Insight Editions (of such visually brilliant tomes such as Die Hard: The Ultimate Visual History and The Art Of The Strain). They have a plethora of beautiful books coming out that I am dizzy with excitement about.

Here’s some details about the upcoming books here below.

In a world of reboots, there is one that will still be unique in this television landscape. CBS’s MacGyver brings back everyone’s favorite genius with a hack. Executive producers James Wan and Peter Lenkov joined cast members Lucas Till ( “Angus MacGyver”) and George Eads (“Jack Dalton”) at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday for a panel that promises to pay homage to the original.

Promo Videos For New ‘Star Trek,’ ‘MacGyver,’ and ‘Training Day’ TV Series
  |  @   |

CBS has released a bunch of promo videos for some of their upcoming new series, including the new Star Trek TV series from Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, American Gods), the return of MacGyver, and the new series Training Day based on director Antoine Fuqua’s movie of the same name starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, with Bill Paxton taking on Washington’s role of the whatever-it-takes veteran detective and newcomer Justin Cornwell playing the young trainee.

The Star Trek promo is brief and doesn’t show any actual footage, but does reveal the official logo for the new show. The MacGyver first look promo is longer and plays more like a trailer, while the Training Day promo is a full on preview running almost four minutes long. You can check out all three of the videos below, along with more info on each of the shows.

MacGyver: The Fugitive Gauntlet #5 is bittersweet. I’ve loved this series SO MUCH, that while I’m excited to see how everything concludes, I’m sorry to see this miniseries end.

For the past four issues Lee David Zlotoff and Tony Lee have written an absolute perfect comic book based on the television series with all the hallmarks and standards of the MacGyver television show, and this issue is no exception. Everything comes to a head this issue, and it’s a great wrap up to the series. There’s TONS of twists and turns and some classic MacGyver gadget-making and using household cleaning tools to do some amazing feats. It’s very well written and just when you think things are settled, we get another few pages of wrap up. A great ending to this series.
