The end of season 2 of Into The Badlands is here and it’s bittersweet. I always hate season finales of my favorite shows. No one likes saying good-bye. On a show like AMC’s Into the Badlands, it can mean saying goodbye in more ways than one. Sunny (Daniel Wu) fought his way back “into the Badlands” with one intention guiding him the whole way”¦ find Veil (Madeleine Mantock) and his baby. While he and new pal Bajie (Nick Frost) worked their way in, the Badlands were crazy with battles, betrayals, and Barons, oh my. Quinn (Marton Csokas) survived Sunny’s attack and has been living with Veil as his “guest.” The Widow (Emily Beecham) has been the true dominant force of the season. When she was essentially given a death sentence during the conclave, her response was to form an alliance with Quinn. This alliance led to Jade’s (Sarah Bolger) removal from the Fort, Ryder’s (Oliver Stark) death, Lydia’s (Orla’s Brady) capture, and Veil’s return to Quinn after an escape. When that was done, it appeared Sunny and Widow would align, but then Widow was exposed to have traded Veil. The Widow was left falling apart, fighting her own daughter and regent Tilda (Ally Ioannides) at the end of last week’s episode. Will Sunny find Veil and have a final showdown with Quinn? Will The Widow finally get what she wants out of M.K. (Aramis Knight)? Will I be able to cope with no Badlands for the rest of the year?!

Last week on AMC’s Into the Badlands, Sunny finally returned and found himself right in the middle of the Baron Chau (Eleanor Matsuura) vs. Widow (Emily Beecham) stand-off. Sunny (Daniel Wu) aligned with Chau, but when the moment was at hand… teamed with Widow on the promise of finding Veil (Madeleine Mantock) and getting to kill Quinn (Marton Csokas). M.K. (Aramis Knight) was used as bait but at least that got him closer to Tilda (Ally Ioannides). Tilda meanwhile, was starting to see mommy Widow for who she really is, especially after Veil called her out. It might be an explosive Mother’s Day for The Widow if Tilda plays that card.

Last week on AMC’s Into the Badlands, Sunny (Daniel Wu) was forced to confront the demons in his head after being poisoned by the Abbots. It was Bajie (Nick Frost) and M.K. (Aramis Knight) who had to rescue Sunny for a change by breaking INTO the monastery both men had previously escaped. This led to an awesome battle between the two and the Master (Chipo Chung) and the Abbots. Meanwhile, Quinn (Marton Csokas) and Widow (Emily Beecham) got off on the right foot in their alliance, as Quinn got Veil (Madeleine Mantock) back and captured his former bride Jade (Sarah Bolger). With Sunny saved, it’s onwards to the Badlands to regain his wife and child. He’s willing do anything, and let nothing stand in his way.

Last week on AMC’s Into the Badlands, we had unions and reunions that served to bring all the characters back together. Sunny (Daniel Wu) and Bajie (Nick Frost) re-entered the Badlands and met up with M.K. (Aramis Knight) who was fleeing the Abbots from the monastery. This led to a suitably epic showdown between Sunny and former UFC fighter Cung Le and the reveal that Bajie is actually a runaway Abbot with his own secret powers. Sunny continues trying to get back to Veil and his baby; all the while she has been held prisoner by Quinn (Marton Csokas) whose brain tumor is making him more and more maniacal. Veil (Madeleine Mantock) thought she found refuge with The Widow (Emily Beecham), but she did not count on an alliance between Widow and Quinn. We are one step closer to Sunny finding Quinn, Veil and his seeing his baby for the first time. Last night’s episode was directed by Stephen Fung, who has been executive producer and fight director since Into the Badlands debuted, which means this episode should be fueled by fight sequences the typically great ItB choreography.

The second season of AMC’s Into the Badlands keeps on rolling along its bloody path. Last week, Sunny (Daniel Wu) and Bajie (Nick Frost) found a path back to the Badlands, but it came at a cost, and that cost proved too much for Sunny’s conscience. In an amazing technical display, Sunny (and a little Bajie) kicked butt and absconded with a vehicle, leaving a new enemy in their wake. Back inside the Badlands, the Barons were reeling after Quinn (Marton Csokas) surprised everyone at the Conclave, leaving his son dead. Tortured by Ghost Ryder (Oliver Stark), and riddled by a brain tumor, Quinn is left a stammering, shaky leader who holds baby Henry at knifepoint. Veil (Madeleine Mantock) was able to convince Quinn to surrender Henry to her. At that moment, Lydia (Orla Brady) led her former husband and dead son’s army against Quinn, a distraction that allowed Veil to escape. The major conflict last week was an internal one, where The Widow (Emily Beecham) wrestled with her choices after the conclave. Waldo (Stephen Lang) advised her to capture Quinn for the Barons to get back in their good graces, but The Widow isn’t one to compromise so easily. She chooses an alliance with Quinn against the other Barons, something I personally cannot wait to see develop.
