‘The Defenders’ Trailer: Marvel Street Heroes Get Their Sh*t Together

For those who haven’t watched any of Netflix’s solo Marvel outings, let’s do a little roll call. There’s “The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen,” aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox). After that it’s the smart-ass detective otherwise known as Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), the righteous ex-con. Then there’s the “Hero of Harlem,” or who we know as Luke Cage (Mike Colter). Finally, there’s the kid with a glowing fist aka Iron Fist (Finn Jones). These otherwise heroes of New York City have been defending the streets from one threat or another, and now after two years of build up, the pay off is finally coming to Netflix this summer in The Defenders.

The first trailer for the Marvel superhero ensemble has finally arrived. Together with the help of some friends like Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), and Stick (Scott Glenn), they will protect their streets from the mysterious Hand and a new villain played by Sigourney Weaver. Geek Peek: ‘The Defenders’ Finally Assemble For A Team Photo-Op

It has been two long years, but finally, the heroes of the Netflix and Marvel collaboration are finally getting together for The Defenders. Even if that means they have to fight amongst themselves to do it.

The first handful of images from the new series have finally arrived and it gives us our first look at the heroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Coulter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) together as well as the series’ first antagonist, the mysterious Alexandra, who will be played by Sigourney Weaver. Marvel Announces ‘The Inhumans’ TV Series; Will Premiere In IMAX Theaters

Marvel Studios’ Phase Four would have introduced The Inhumans to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it seemed like it was leading up to that when the group was introduced in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show. However, any plans for The Inhumans to appear in a film or on the big screen may have been axed Marvel’s The Inhumans is now in the works as a television series.

The news was confirmed by Marvel Television, Disney/ABC TelevisionGroup, and IMAX. That’s right, IMAX is involved in this. That’s because, the “first two episodes of Marvel Television’s new series “Marvel’s The Inhumans” — produced in conjunction with ABC Studios and filmed entirely with IMAX digital cameras — will run worldwide exclusively in IMAX for two weeks at the beginning of September 2017.” The series then moves to its regular season run on ABC. The deal marks the first time that IMAX is co-producing network television.

‘Daredevil’ Star Elodie Yung Returns As Elektra In Marvel’s ‘The Defenders’

It’s a regular reunion for the characters of Netflix’s Marvel universe in The Defenders. In addition to the core group of Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), many of the title heroes’ supporting team will also be in the upcoming superhero ensemble series.

Characters from Daredevil like Scott Glenn (Stick) and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson) will appear as well as Jessica JonesCarrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), and Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker). Luke Cage‘s Simone Missick will reprise her role as Misty Knight. Iron Fist‘s Jessica Henwick will also appear as Colleen Wing. Finally, there’s Rosario Dawson who returns as Claire Temple, the Nick Fury of this Netflix and Marvel collaboration.

Marvel and Netflix’s ‘The Punisher’ Arrives In 2017; New Cast Announced

It’s hard not to enjoy what Marvel has been offering on Netflix. Recently we’ve seen some trailers for Iron Fist, the fourth Marvel series following Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, which arrives on the streaming platform early next year. That will be followed up by the ensemble series The Defenders, which sees all four titular standalone heroes unite to defeat a yet to be revealed villain, which is rumored to be The Hand.

While all of that is going on, Netflix and Marvel are currently working on The Punisher. At first, it was thought that the Daredevil spinoff series would be released sometime in 2018. But now, it has been confirmed that it will instead be released in 2017. Check out the full story below.
