This is a topic that has been itching at me for a decent amount of time now, but I’ve tried to store it away and forget about it. This, as we all know, is not very healthy. So with that, it’s time to vent off about this progressively glaring situation and allow all of you a place to sound off.
For those of you who are unaware, a disturbing trend has become the norm when picking up a brand new video game. Imagine waiting one, two, maybe three years for an exciting new game or massive sequel, and when we finally get it in our hands it’s like Christmas morning. Now imagine gently placing your new game into your console, firing it up, and preparing to set off on a new adventure…only to discover that you can’t read the words on the screen. This is what has been going on more often than anyone has the stomach to handle.
In these many titles the text is so small, that reading them comfortable is impossible. The words aren’t completely illegible as many claim, but in order to read, you have to be fairly close and sometimes can find yourself staring blankly at a word, trying to figure out what it is (Click image just once for basic idea of what the font is like to read for me personally). Now I’m no genius, but when you have to decrypt an unencrypted word, SOMETHING has to be broken somewhere along the line, right?
Legendary Pictures has secured the rights to turn the incredible science fiction video game Mass Effect into a feature-length movie. The banner has previously delivered us great titles like 300, The Dark Knight, Watchmen, The Hangover, and Where the Wild Things Are…among many others.
Avi Arad and Ari Arad will produce the film, and Mark Protosevich is currently in talks to pen the screenplay. Protosevich has previously written The Cell, Poseidon, I Am Legend, and helped to write Marvel Studios’ Thor.
With the imminent release of Mass Effect 2 tomorrow, buzz around the series has reached a fever pitch (how sweet was that ad during the NFC Championship last night?!) and earlier this month Dark Horse capitalized on the buzz by releasing the first issue of Mass Effect: Redemption a four-issue comic series, written by BioWare lead writer Mac Walters, scripted by John Jackson Miller (Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, The Invincible Iron Man), and drawn by Omar Francia(Star Wars Legacy).
Now, the comic series will soon be making the leap from the beautiful comic pages of yesterday to the iPhone’s digital screens of tomorrow. The first issue of Mass Effect: Redemption will debut on iTunes February 3, just in time for the release of second issue of the series in print form.
The comic tells the exciting back-story that led up to the events of Mass Effect 2, while exploring the exotic and dangerous future Milky Way of Mass Effect. It will also reveal previously unseen locations, aliens, and enemies of the rich science fiction landscape found in the game.
Everyone’s anticipating Mass Effect 2, especially after seeing the preview that ran during the NFL playoff game last night.
You only have one more day til Mass Effect 2 will be released (January 26, 2010), which means you also have one more day to get in on the pre-order deal!
Pre-order Mass Effect 2 for Xbox 360 or PC from Amazon and receive $10 credit towards a future video game purchase. Also with the pre-order, you will get the bonus Inferno Armor, which monitors and regulates sub-systems to allow for greater response times; plus, its able to recognize elevated heart rates and pupil movement in people close by, almost acting like a lie detector.
Be sure to read the fine print on the product page, which will explain how to get your credit and bonus armor, and remember, today’s the last day to get in on this deal before the game’s release tomorrow.
Here’s some specs for the game, according to its product page…
