Hailee Steinfeld in Edge of Seventeen

Marvel Studios’ television productions on Disney+ will be far more connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe than any of the other shows that came before it. That’s because most of the A-listers will be headlining these shows. One that is of particular interest is Hawkeye, which will draw from Matt Fraction and David Aja‘s series of the same name. In it, Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) forges a partnership with Kate Bishop, and together they fight for justice. And now, Marvel may have found their Bishop.

New reports confirm that an offer has been made to Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, True Grit, Bumblebee) to play the role of the young archer who, in the comics, eventually takes up the role of Hawkeye. More on the report below.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Hawkeye

Disney has been slowly announcing some exciting titles that they will be adding to their subscription-based streaming service, Disney+. We already know a lot about their Loki show, which will have some Quantum Leap vibes to it. There’s also the Falcon and The Winter Soldier show, as well as The Vision and Scarlet Witch. Now you can expect to see a Hawkeye series as well.

Reports confirm Jeremy Renner will reprise his role for the show, which is currently under development. But it won’t be the straightforward Hawkeye show. These reports say Kate Bishop will have a role in it. More on the story below.

Well, well, well. It appears that others besides myself have taken a shine to this comic series. While this is technically a review of The Wicked + The Divine #11, I wanted to alert you to some other news that has recently made a few headlines. It appears that this little Eisner nominated comic has been optioned by Universal Television to become a television series through Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick’s production company Milkfed Criminal Masterminds. So there! But seriously, how cool is it to see a new comic series get recognition right from the start? Keep reading to find out what makes this comic so notable.

First off, if you are only a sometime reader of this series, I may drop a hint or two as to things that transpired in past issues. In order to speak to events in this current installment, it’s inevitable that I reference the last ten issues. So, in advance: I’m sorry.

When we first see Casanova Quinn in the open pages of Avaritia, he’s like we’ve never seen him before: sad, angry, hating his job after years of loving it. After the events of Gula, our favorite E.M.P.I.R.E. agent is destroying alternate realities in an attempt to stop his nemesis, Newman Xeno, from ever existing. But it’s the more subtle thing that continues to blow me away every time I revisit this story: when we first see Casanova — he has Xs for eyes.

It’s one of many signals that this arc of Casanova will be unlike we’ve seen before.
