Thrashback Thursday: Nailbomb “Guerrillas”
  |  @   |

Nailbomb was a short-lived heavy metal supergroup consisting of core members Max Cavalera (Sepultura, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, Killer Be Killed) and Alex Newport (Fudge Tunnel) along with a veritable who’s who of metal in their live lineup.

The group only managed to issue one studio recording, the 1994 industrial thrash masterpiece Point Blank and their sole live performance occurred at the Dynamo Open Air festival in the Netherlands in 1995. The show was recorded and was later released as the live album Proud to Commit Commercial Suicide. The footage below is for the track “Guerrillas” from that very performance.

Thrashback Thursday: Cavalera Conspiracy “Killing Inside”
  |  @   |

Today’s edition of Thrashback Thursday comes courtesy of Max and Igor Cavalera. The brothers who were once the heart and soul of Sepultura. The two had been estranged for over ten years following Max’s acrimonious split with the band, which the brothers had formed back in their native Brazil in the early ’80s.

When Igor also decided to break with the Sepultura camp the brothers reconciled, to the delight of thrash fans the world over. Their new project together was initially to be called Inflikted, but the name was already taken. They instead decided to call the band Cavalera Conspiracy and named their 2007 debut album Inflikted.

Killing Inside” was the single from Cavalera Conspiracy‘s 2011 sophomore album Blunt Force Trauma and is today’s featured Thrashback Thursday track. Check out the official video here below.

Pandemonium
Cavalera Conspiracy
CD|MP3|Vinyl
Release Date: November 4, 2014

When in the hell does Max Cavalera sleep? I can’t imagine that he gets very much shut-eye with the level of productivity that he maintains. Just this year the former front man of Sepultura has released Savages the ninth album by his primary band Soulfly, the absolutely brilliant eponymous debut album from his metal supergroup Killer Be Killed, and his autobiography My Bloody Roots: From Sepultura to Soulfly and Beyond.

Now, to top it all off, along with brother Igor Cavalera and their band Cavalera Conspiracy, he has released his most brutal offering since the early days of his tenure at the helm of Sepultura, titled Pandemonium.

Thrashback Thursday: “Refuse/Resist” By Sepultura
  |  @   |

With the anthemic call-to-arms opening track of their fifth album, 1993’s Chaos A.D., here is Sepultura.

Watch the official video for “Refuse/Resist” here below.

Hailing from Brazil and led by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, the band broke new ground and paved the way for many bands that would follow in their footsteps. AllMusic declared Chaos A.D. one of the best heavy metal albums of all time, calling it “a remarkable achievement not only in its concentrated power and originality, but also in the degree to which Sepultura eclipsed their idols in offering a vision of heavy metal’s future.” To me, the same could be said of each and every one of the first six albums that the band issued.
