My knowledge of Dungeons & Dragons comes exclusively from the 1980’s Saturday morning cartoon. I knew going in that Infestation: Dungeons & Dragons #1 wouldn’t be starring any of those characters, but I was curious anyway. What I found was about as different as you could get.
Writer Paul Crilley introduces the world of Dungeons & Dragons in a single paragraph printed inside the front cover, which pretty much set the tone for the rest of the book.

Steve Niles and Menton3’s ‘Nosferatu Wars’ Comes To ‘Dark Horse Presents’
Dark Horse Comics announced Monday that Steve Niles and Menton3‘s Nosferatu Wars is coming to the pages of Dark Horse Presents later this year.
A while back, Steve Niles posted some artwork for the upcoming Nosferatu Wars on his twitter account, and while he’s intent on going creator owned, I for one wondered what publisher this comic would be released through. I figured that it was a safe assumption that the book would be coming out through IDW considering his working relationship with the publisher on his new 30 Days of Night ongoing series. But Monday, Dark Horse Comics confirmed that it will indeed be coming out within the pages of Dark Horse Presents. Now, in what issue in the anthology comic is a completely different story. And we still don’t have that information.

Monocyte #2

Written by Menton3 and Kasra Ghanbari
Art by Menton3
IDW Publishing
Release Date: December 28, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99
It’s not often that a comic book demands my attention. Gorgeous art and dynamic narrative often grab my attention, but rarely demand it. Monocyte #2 forced me to examine every panel and page. If my attention wandered for even a moment the next page of Monocyte #2 was foreign to me. The creative team behind this series has built a completely immersive experience with issue #2. This is not a comic for someone looking to kill 15 minutes. This is a comic that requires your undivided attention from start to finish. Of course you could understand that base story on cursory glance. But just by glancing you would be missing the subtle injection of character development through narrative. Monocyte #2 elevates itself above being just a comic. Monocyte #2 is poetry in panels.

Release Date: January 11, 2012
Cover Price: $7.99
I was very nervous about reading Cobra Annual 2012. Wasn’t looking forward to it at all. I’m a big fan of non-origin origins. I liked that in the Marvel Comics’ G.I. Joe series, all you knew about Cobra Commander was that at some point in his life, he was a used car salesman who went off the deep end. Another great non-origin was that of He-Man. All we needed to know about him, he told us in the cartoon’s opening. In the back of my mind, I was really worried that the new Cobra Commander would be a tortured soul who’s mother never loved him, his father beat him, and on and on.
